Something I really don't get is why people think normal splits are good and reverse splits are bad. If the company's fundamentals haven't changed then neither of the splits will have an effect on the company and it's business. The reason of why they did the split is more relevant but the actual split shouldn't sway someone too or from the stock. There could be an argument made for a stock having too many stocks and for a stock having too little. Then they might do the split because of accounting reasons.

The fundamentals are the same, but one company is splitting shares because the price is rising quickly (good performance) companies combine shares because their price is dropping below compliance guidelines (negative performance). A reverse split is a bad sign.

I think he said example if u already have 100 shares before revers split, make sure your broker adjusts your shares. Otherwise when you sell into a spike after reverse split , you are selling your actual shares are not really yours. So maybe only 50 will truly be yours due to the split. So if you sell all 100 cos you want to profit from the huge spike, you end up in a short sale situation cos you are selling a false 100 total did you did not really own cos of the split. I think he explained in another video.

Hey I have a question that are talking about NAKD doing a reverse split so if it happens stay put and watch for the news and morning and afternoon spike to make a good return. I was thinking after the spike sell some shares and keep some in the stock. Please let me know what you think here. Thanks

This explanation of a reverse split is a bit biased. There are lots of reasons why legitimate companies do reverse splits. They don't all obviously end up like Amazon but it is helpful to reduce shares and raise price. Not every company does it to remain compliant. Many companies do it to reduce the amount of shares and lower their float and raise their share price to make them hopefully more interesting to institutions. It can be used as a strategic tool. Stocks on the OTC that reverse split are doomed but real companies with products in development or actual products may find it necessary to do a reverse split. Bio technology companies that are in the process of producing a product that is not yet on the Market will often times have to do a reverse split. It doesn't mean they're going to end up being a scam.
@MrJigga4204 жыл бұрын
They've been great for shorts.
@bobross18292 жыл бұрын
Agree. I think the reason for a RS is more important. If a company is failing with negative growth and bad news and drop below compliance and does a reverse split, that can kind of be seen as a desperate attempt to raise the price as it is artificial. But in bear markets or a company that otherwise looks very solid just gets traded down and they maybe have too many outstanding shares? That is the scenario he talks about where it might be seen as a "good thing" as it reduces the float
@MOBU763 жыл бұрын
VYNE just did reverse split 4:1. went from $2 to $8
@frankr2584 Жыл бұрын
Because 4 x 2 equals 8. There are less shares available. The stock price didn't naturally shoot up
