As a Christian myself I agree with you about that there’s no connection. I feel like a lot of people, including Christians, forget about what the real meaning of Christmas is all about. It’s not about buying things and gifts. It’s about the celebration of the birth of the Savior of the world. The greatest gift ever!❤

I dislike setting it all up. I love when it’s done but don’t like putting all the holiday stuff out. By the way, we do stockings differently, all the adults get one thing for each persons stocking . It’s so much more personal that way and not just more stuff that cost way too much that means nothing. An example is my daughter and I were at a small fair and there was someone selling homemade jam but she didn’t want to spend 8. on a jar so I snuck back and that’s her one thing I bought for her stocking. She remembered it was so excited to receive it! It made stockings so much fun we always save it for last and cost so much less with much more meaning!

My least favorite tradition is a collective hustle/bustle, starting with Black Friday. We were all just so thankful for everyone and everything, and the next day, it’s get out of my way. That flat screen is mine.

I agree with you. Maybe I just don't have the right instincts. But every time I think something will sell well/quickly based on STR, it doesn't sell. And the opposite is true as well. The things that do really well are often things that shock me. I also believe certain things just work better for certain sellers. Possibly because of their description or their photos. Regardless, I think the real secret is to find what works best for you-what brings you joy or gives you the chance to share your knowledge.

We used to be so busy with all of you kiddos. We’re now scaled down to the staff/ elder party & our “soup supper” after the Eve candlelight service. Sometimes I miss the bustle. Maybe because it mostly had to do with y’all. I don’t guess that really says a least favorite - I apparently don’t have any. 🤷‍♀️ I will say that over time things have changed a lot. I’m still mulling that over. ❤

I think it’s ok to not have a least favorite. Then you are only doing things that you love and value. That can’t be bad.

Exactly! We need to slow down! But we don’t! I agree with you! We lead our lives like that too. At least I am. I’m so overwhelmed during this time! Somehow God is keeping me going! Until one day I fall down! I don’t say no and when I do, it not enough!

I am with you on the Christmas stockings! Also, I really can’t stand Christmas trees. 😮😂 We didn’t have one for 20 years and then my youngest girls started putting one up. I adore Nativity scenes. I also don’t like the busywork of Christmas but January is coming! 🎉🎉🎉

I’m with you on the stockings, we actually don’t even use them anymore! I didn’t like having to fill them with little things that the kids would get bored with. We don’t do the Santa thing either, don’t come at me in the comments! Our kids thought it was ridiculous and weird anyways 😂 they say it’s supposed to be about Jesus! This year looks quite different for us, we aren’t actually doing physical gifts this year, we are going on a family trip to visit family and rented an Airbnb. We are excited and can’t afford any extra gifts either or think it’s necessary. We are having an experience as a family and our kids are excited! They will get presents from grandparents! I don’t like all the busyness either. I’d say my least favorite part is usually spending Christmas alone so I’m so glad this year we are traveling. I’m also a minimalist at heart and love things simplified. Which is ironic being a reseller lol 😂 but trying to keep the two separate and both simplified if that makes sense. Anyways Jesus is the reason for the season!

USPS has raised rates for the holiday season. I believe they started this in October until the end of year. This is why calculated shipping seems higher than usual. I know it’s messed with my sales unfortunately. I hope your family has a Merry Christmas and a blessed 2025!

Comping- I’d rather comp my own sales. I tend to sell a lot of similar items, by brand and style. For instance, I sell a lot of Eileen Fisher. So I go by what I know I can sell it for rather than what eBay says is the average. That might not be the right way or the smart way but it’s what I do. 😂

I think that’s great! If it works for you and you know it will likely sell, why not! I feel like I do that for my bread and butter brands. Even though comps might say less, I start them a little higher because experience tells me I can.

My least favorite thing is the excessive gift giving. Especially when you get older and everyone has everything. It becomes a gift card exchange and wasted money in my opinion. I've asked the family to stop with the gifts for me. The kids, yes, give them gifts, it's so much fun for them. I prefer to give home baked cookies and candied nuts to the older folks!

I try to stick with items that are higher than 40% but occasionally I would pick up an item that’s less only if it has a lot going on for it, can sell it faster with the right keywords, and make more than a $20 profit. Maybe you can travel to other areas if you’re not finding better items. I had to do the same and now I’m finding items with higher ASP which makes me more money. I think it’s a waste of time to list items that are gonna sit for too long because you’re doing all that work of sourcing then taking pics and listing it to get a profit of less than $10? No thank you lol
