When I was a little child I used to take a digital camera with me on holidays. But now I opt for a smartphone, as I don't want to carry a lot of valuable things, which can get lost. I've never gotten into a photography so I won't take the next rung up with my pictures by buying a state-of-the-art camera. I take pictures to remember what I've seen/experienced, not to take a perfect shot.

Nice topic. But I'd say it's almost impossible to use DSLR lenses on mirrorless cameras directly. Some manufacturers provide the special adapter to use such lenses. But in most cases they release the special lens lineup for mirorrless cameras (as Fuji, Canon or Nicon did)...

over the last years smartphones have replaced walkman and ipod in listening to music but i think it won't the same for cameras.. photography is a form of art and photographer are professionists who needs, as the other artists, their own instrument for work..

But will smartphone totally replace camera. I don't think so or I will say never. Because, there is some advantages in camera that a smartphone will never have, the confort.

2:11 I don't think that cameras are that obsolete. I mean the markets of cameras still works even people use less traditionnal camera today. Look at companies like Canon or Nikon, depsite the smartphones they are still in bit. The company GoPro is particulary popular espetially with fan of extreme sports. But yes, depsite this there is the fall of Kodak which was in failure during the late 2010s and early 2010s. A big name brand which isn't sadly ready to come back mainstream. (And I guess that 2000s or at least early 2010s youngsters doesn't know what Kodak is -_- yep...). But, yes of course, camera on phone exist since the Noughties but in this time, camera where pretty in bad quality where in traditional camera the quality was clearly better of course it wasn't in HD (4/3 576p, actually) but it logical because there no HD in this time, so. But with the apparition of the iPhone in 2007 and his revolutional technicals, phones are now able to film in good quality. Some premium smartphone are also able to film in a quality similar to a professional cameras. Sorry for my english, I'm french.
