Are Sound Percussion Labs Drumsticks Too Cheap to Be Good? Gear Review!

Are drum sticks made by Sound Percussion Labs worth it? Or is it a matter of you get what you pay for (i.e., are they too cheap to be worth it)? Let's do a deep dive of this by looking at 6 pairs of the SP Drumsticks, all size 5a. Like most sticks, these are made from Hickory. Unlike your big name brand sticks, these "budget" sticks are likely "seconds" (likely made by one of the big name manufacturers). In this music gear product review, I'll discuss all aspects of these Sound Percussion drumsticks, including: * the stick specs compared to competitors such as Vic Firth, and Promark and Vater * close up roll tests so you can see if the sticks are cut strait * weight matching tests * damage tests see how long it takes for them to chip * and some samples so you can hear how they sound compares to other brands, and see if they are pitch matched.

I use the funk ones pretty regularly.... just bought some rock ones today. I used to play vater recording Ones which are very similar and they even be what these are knocked off being.

Vater "goodwood" bricks are actually good tho. I recommend them to anyone who just wants a mess of extra sticks. They seemed to hold up well for me

As someone who worked for guitar center they buy seconds from the major manufacturers. I used to use them for practice all the time cuz they were stupid cheap. Especially with the employee discount.

Good sticks for the price for the drummer on a budget. Who wants to spend $45 on 3 pairs of drumsticks now? Every drummer i know complain about this and have switched to other brands like SPL or Guitar Center sticks. They are seconds from the bigger brands anyway. Im a gigging drummer and ive turned to sticks like these and save lots of $. Have you tried the Promark La specials yet?

SPL is hit or miss (pun intended). The hardware can be good in a pinch but I've never liked their sticks.
