Are Squatters in Spain days Numbered

Shameful that squatters ever had any rights in the first place. Private property has to be respected, otherwise there is no freedom or respect for fundamental human rights. No-one has a right to occupy my property against my will.

There are 2 things that any state has to guarantee, otherwise it is a failed state, one is to guarantee the protection of the life of its habitants, and the other is to guarantee the protection of the private property, if any of those two fail, you are in front of a failed state.

Not before time. It happened to someone i know, twice, and they took everything down to the light switches/fittings etc after delaying for a full 12 months for the legal proceedings to work its way through. It also happened to a guy who had a top floor apartment off Av Baleares, where a german guy just stopped paying the rent after a short time and he was still there 15 years later. The water was turned off so he used to take big drums of water from the community swimming pool to flush his loo !

We've just had squatters move in across from us. This is an excellent new law as currently the law is an arse. Also I didn't realise the owner of the property cannot shut off water and electric and the owner must pay for it. Insurance companies now adding caveat for extra €25 on policy to get them out. It's a joke they actually have rights having broken into someone's house and you cannot forcefully remove them, go in when they are out and change locks.

We have them on or Urbanización and recently stopped a break in next door. We have a few measures in place but also took out squatters Insurance.

Thanks for doing this video Unfortunately as the law stands if squatters can prove they’ve been in the property for 48 hours it’s difficult to get them out Let’s just hope the Spanish law makers go through with this

there are alot of realy cheap properties that are occupied(squaters). so this might help sell those if the law is passed.id consider one of these if i could get them out

Seems like trespassing laws, breaking and entering, and theft laws would take precedence (articles 202, 203, 234 Spanish penal code).
