Oh my gosh, using you as a toilet, LMAO I relate so hard to this 😩 I potty trained her too, so can usually anticipate when she needs to go and ask her to - but sometimes there's nothing like pooping on your parront 🫠

I absolutely love this video!! I came across your page 2 days ago because I am a new mama to a baby blue-headed pionus!! He is not fully weaned so I will be visiting him for the next month until he can come home. I have done plenty of research I have been waiting for this bird for over 4 years.. I'm not new to birds I own cockatiels green cheek conure and I have rescued got them to a better state physically and mentally and a re-homed them to a better home.. parallets parakeets cockatiels and conures. By far I am not an expert but I do know birds pretty well. I work from home full time I do have two dogs as well who have been born and raised around the birds. We have a bird room My two cockatiels and my conure are bonded to each other always out and about together. The new baby pionus will be staying with me on a different level of the house until it's ready to be introduced but I will not be keeping him with the other birds. Either way this is amazing information for anybody that is looking for a pet bird especially parrots There is no start a bird There is no easy bird There is no quiet bird. I have started working from home for my dogs and my birds we don't really go on vacation If we do we need to arrange someone to come to our house to stay with our pets This is a life-changing decision it's not cheap it's time consuming it's wonderful don't get me wrong but please research and so thank you for this! Also get used to having bird poop everywhere and anywhere check your clothes before you go out the door😂

I think, you fall in love for a kind and then you study if that kind is a sort that can make you en you them happy for a very long time. Never take a kind because they fit by the book. You might still want another one. But, like said, don't do it if you know you can't handle that kind (in general) And most important, there must be a match with the individu !

We definitely wouldn't be without them! For me it's less discouraging, because for the right people parrots are amazing, but more trying to help people understand if a parrot is the right pet for them. As let's be honest dogs and cats are FAR simpler pets 🤣

So what would be an easier bird that would have the best chance of providing a first time bird owner with a pleasant experience? Will be purchasing a baby from a breeder and open to any species. Especially one who is keen on bonding through trick and indoor flight training and is really looking for that close one-of-a-kind bond?

From personal experience, a pigeon. I'm not even joking, I'm being very serious. My very first pet bird was a racing pidgeon that my uncle gave me. They're very easy maintenance, don't scream, no where near as aggressive when hormonal compared to a parrot, non destructive, has a lifespan similar to a budgie and is the only domesticated bird. Majority of birds in captivity are wild at heart but pigeons have been bred for hundreds of years, same as dogs, to be domesticated, have a natural bonding instinct towards humans so bond quickly and strongly to their owners and super easy to tame and recall train. I have a friend who has a blue throated conure and a pet pigeon. And she says she wished she knew how great pet pigeons were before she got a parrot, as she may have never got a parrot. No parrot is guaranteed to bond with you, even if you have it from a baby. And the baby stage will always be a pleasant experience, but puberty a full on battle. And hormone season when they are most likely to be nesty and aggressive happens twice a year throughout their lifetime. There's no such thing as an easy parrot. Parrots can make exceptional pets for owners that are willing to rise to the challenge and work through the hard days, and be willing to make the lifestyle changes, and understand that there will be days when your parrot is aggressive for no other reason than hormones and do so for the next 30+ years of their life. But many people are unable to commit to that for such a long period of time. Which is why I say pigeons are the better option for someone who needs an "easier", low maintenence type bird with good recall and a strong bond.

@carina9629 really!! Honestly they make amazing pets!! They are so underrated and so easy to care for. One went viral a year or so ago called Penny that recently passed away, and the person who owned her has since rescued 3 more pigeons. They're natural homing instinct means they're super easy to recall train too. Have a Google of Penny the Pigeon and have a look at what her owner said about her. I've already said if I ever get a 3rd bird it will be a pigeon again to help educate people on what amazing pets they actually make. And they are the only domesticated pet bird. They're also super resilient, don't need fancy stainless steel cages because they're not destructive, just a good size cage/aviary to fly in, which is why many pigeon owners have DIY aviaries in their garden. They don't need fancy diets, although providing lots of fruit and veg will benefit them, they're scavengers so need a low maintenence diet, super chill and easy to handle, love a cuddle, are way more affectionate than people realise and yes make a cooing sound but I'd take a days worth of cooing over deafening screams any day. And their shorter lifespan is more similar commitment to that of a dog or a cat, so you don't have to work out who's going to care for them after you die. I genuinely wish more people wanting birds would consider them, especially if they've never owned birds before, as they are a good way to find out if you can handle the mess/poo that comes with a bird. And unlike parrots they don't need CONSTANT attention. They're quite happy to chill in their aviary watching the world go by or foraging for food.

Simply search quaker parrot into KZbin search and see what pops up. I know there's a channel called Flock Talk. She has a Quaker and does a lot of education type videos. There's another I used to watch who had a quaker but can't for the life of me think of her channel name. If I remember I'll edit this comment. Failing that search Quaker parrot on Instagram. You'll probably get a few accounts pop up and most people are willing to have a chat through messages or comments.
