Dude I love you! I prefer smaller species too. While I really admire them I know I they require a lot of space and they are a longer commitment. People don’t realize that little birds are a commitment too. Budgies can up to 15 years. My Quaker Parrot lived 19 years, which isn’t a super long time but she lived to a respectable age given that she developed health issues toward the end of her life. My Sun Conure is 20! She is still peppy and has no known health issues. I also kid you not. She is quiet and doesn’t a lot of noise. Most of her noises consist of chirps, kisses and “hellos”. She’s not a screamer. I seriously lucked out with her LOL! Don’t tell Sunny, but I really love Cockatiels because of their whistles. They are such gentle birds

Oh gosh! Thank you🤗Exactly what I wanted to highlight in this video is that it doesn't matter if it's a smollll bird or a big bird they are a big commitment, responsibility with needs either way! You're sun sounds awesome, and love to the Quaker who crossed the🌈🤍

We've had the same experience with our Sun Conure! She (DNA tested) is really not as loud as people say. Our 10 Budgies can be louder when they want! (But the Budgie chatter is adorable.)

I have 4 budgies and they are adorable but VERY VERY messy. I need to vacuum 4-5 times a day. They can also be loud at times but compared to other birds like conures they are quieter. They also are small and fragile. They are 100% worth it and they are a blast.

I have 2 budgies they are very friendly but have no chill, always playing and flying and jumping around lol. After an hour or two they may hang out on your shoulder or try to groom you. They are only loud when they want out of their cage . Otherwise they sing the songs of their people. I love them ❤

You mention African Gray and Senegal are talkers. I have a Senegal and they are not talkers. They are relatively quiet and they tend to learn a few very quiet, raspy sounding words.

Love this !! I have 3. Conure and two cockatiels.. Fourth one will be here soon... My dream bird blue-headed pionus.. I have been on a waiting list for 4 and 1/2 years ... Me and my husband have birds two puppies a lot of reptiles and the birds are for the most needy out of them all I consider my dog's kids lol but we don't ever go on vacation, no one will watch all of our pets that we can trust and all the money we could be using on vacation we spend on them but I wouldn't have it any other way but please research take your time a bird is not something that you buy on a wim!

Oh my gosh, I can't believe the waitlist for the pionus! What country is the waitlist like this in, if you don't mind sharing? Research is important - & thank you for sharing that! It can definitely be difficult to travel once you have pets, and the more you have, the harder it gets🥲

Same here. My husband and I don't really trust anyone to care for our dogs and birds overnight. We are fine this way. Occasionally we make a "day trip" (not overnight) to another town/city/state.

I went to an event about interacting with animals because my wife want to bring my daughter there. To be honest i used to be unconfortable/scared with any species besides human. I even scared of cats n dogs haha. But at the event, i felt in love with the birds . They are lovely and beautiful. Most of them are very gentle. I dont remember the name of those birds but one of them flew and landed right on my hand as i holding bird food. Even after the food is finish it jump to my shoulded and stay with me for few minutes. I really want to have a bird to invite it as my family but i dont want to always keep it in cage. May i know what kind of bird that if i trained them enough, they will come back to my house if they fly around outside ? I prefer the gentle loving type instead of the energetic ones. Hope u guys understand my english and can suggest me some type of birds
@PoodlesandParrots2 ай бұрын
It's wonderful to hear about your positive experience with birds. When considering adding a bird to your family and allowing it to fly outdoors, it's crucial to understand that free-flight training requires significant time, patience, and expertise. I think it's best to thoroughly research the species you're interested in and consult with experienced bird owners or professionals who have successfully trained their birds for free flight. Offering lots of out of the cage time at home is also okay!
