I’d personally put life drain at S, I almost always use it in mage playthroughs as damage and life regen can just stack up to absurd numbers, it’s also incredibly useful when grinding for a RoD.

I agree. For Queen Slime specifically, it makes the fight way easier than it already is (although, I must admit she gave me a lot of trouble in Master Mode, but I was playing Melee, so maybe that's why). Plus, while its single-target damage isn't on par with some of the best pre-mech Mage weapons (mainly looking at Spirit Flame), it's pretty easy to get consistent damage with it, and I usually use this to kill Duke Fishron pre-mechs when I play Mage.

wand of sparking is actually pretty good early game if you can get one. it pierces, it causes the on-fire debufff, has a ridiculous high base crit chance for an early weapon, and it's easy on the mana. definitely a high-tier weapon.

The combat wrench is an amazing weapon. It can be obtained after skeletron, deals decent dmg, has can pierce one time, and is a weapon that deals meele dmg and gives range. Because most meele weapons don't shoot projectiles in pre-hardmode and early hardmore, having this weapon can really helps, especially in the WoF fight. I think it can be a solid B or at the bottom of A tier, since it can basically carry the hardest part of the game for meele.

I agree with you on the massive drawback of the Venus Magnum, but as a mobile player it would go to S tier for me. Mobile generously gives an opportunity for auto attack for a lot of weapons, Venus Magnum being one of them. That makes it an Direct upgrade to Megashark, both in damage and speed

The Falcon blade being available at the beginning of the game is what makes it appealing. I personally always pick this up regardless of what build I'm doing because it's got nice speed combined with the auto swing

The phase sabour was actually really good in the 3ds version of terraria because there were arch demons that dropped crystal shards meaning you could use it pre hardmode

Quad-barrel shotgun is actually very good, despite the efficient range being extremely short. It shoots a lot, so it's VERY strong at close range. That's a ranged weapon that can save you at a close range, just like other shotguns, but with a higher damage.

Life drain is the best weapon in this list by a long margin, and it's also the best HM pre-boss magic weapon ever. Also the combat wrench is the only boomerang that's worth your while having double the DPS of the lousy enchanted boomerang by virtue of penetrating one enemy and hitting it back on the the return

Heck an decent amount of the weapons at it's stage don't have it's crowd control and it's easy too get. Plus extra regeneration is nice

blood thorn is an amazing thing to go after if you have a bloody tear left over from pre hardmode. it does good damage good against events and honestly does pretty well against the steel worm

For the combat wrench I find it to be pretty useful at times, while it is outclassed by many other weapons the combat wrench has more piercing abilities unlike other boomerangs which just come back to you after hitting a enemy So it counts as pretty solid weapon against the wall of flesh or groups of enemies But the downsides are that it is a post skeletron item which by that point you can already the nights edge and obtaining the weapon can be annoying So I would put it around B tire (Also I have just witnessed the birth of this channel, can’t wait to see what you post next)

@@rabeechowdhury It really depends on how you play melee. If you go for a more tanky build the keybrand is definitely viable, but 1. You really have to go out of your way for it to work and 2. There are better options with less setup. As you can tell from all the readjustments, the tier list wasn't all too polished, and this weapon is no different, so I'd probably put it at c tier.

I have a soft spot for the Breaker Blade as it was my main weapon at one point. Combined with the Magma Stone it was really fun to use despite my preference for faster weapons

@@cranberries24 also, it is actually the best weapon you can use when you enter hardmode, there are 3 hardmode darts in this game all of which are extremely good, crystal darts in particular for mobbing, try crystal dart with blowgun in early hardmode, you only need 1+ crystal shards destroyed and bam

Great video, tho i have some objections to your list. 1. Blow pipe can shoot darts, which makes it quite good early hardmode weapon 2. Considering that machete can be acquired from the start of your playthrough it's a decent early game choice for melee playthroughs(although too rng reliant) 3. Keybrand is awful, it's a no projectile post-plantera sword, if its hitbox was at least 2 times bigger it would've been ok.

I have to place the falcon blade at probably A tier. It has a great swing speed and it autoswings without the feral claws, and does I think 27 base damage. It comes from iron crates, which can be fished immediately. Falcon blade takes your spear or wooden sword wielding character and turns them into a damage powerhouse. In a hardcore or master mode playthrough, it is invaluable, since it can be obtained without fighting anything. Even in a normal playthrough, it is powerful and will likely be your best in slot melee weapon until you can craft a late pre-hardmode sword, since it is so fast.

Keybrand is A imo, purely due to it being a phenomenal dungeon weapon right after plantera for getting tabi/blackbelt, ectoplasm. The only reason I wouldnt put it at S is because it's TRUE melee so it struggles in open spaces

Afaik, every weapon in Terraria will be autoswing come the next update. Hopefully that will include guns too. I know from Calamity that autofire Phoenix Blaster is an S tier weapon, arguably the best gun before the Megashark. Venus Magnum on the other hand also becomes a straight upgrade from the Megashark too (though I think Calamity prioritises High Velocity over any other bullet type which makes it actual garbage) I think that the category of "worst weapons" could really include a lot more; is the weapon worth getting relative to its point in progression + ease of access? But then again, most of the weapons in Terraria would be on that list.

@@Vitamin_R the blowgun is available from the witch doctor at all times, which makes it a pre-hardmode weapon. While the blowgun isn't used in typical terraria speedruns because killing queen bee and getting witch doctor takes too long, the blowpipe certainly is whenever you get lucky enough to find one. When paired with ichor darts and fired from a specific range it can significantly out-DPS the hallowed repeater against the mechanical bosses certain cases, despite being obtainable from wood chests and being a direct downgrade from the blowgun. The only thing that holds back the blowpipe+ichor dart combo is that enemies with high defense (i.e. destroyer, skeletron when his head spins, and every required post-mech boss) take much less damage, but the blowgun has much higher base damage, so it might work fine against skeletron, destroyer, and even plantera. I haven't tested it myself, but it's probably worth a look. Either way, the blowgun is easily A, or even S tier considering it's insane damage potential in hardmode despite being a post-queen bee weapon.

Blowgun is easily a minimum B-tier...and here's why. It is the easiest Hardmode ranged weapon to get...and the ammunition it fires can be crafted without a HM anvil. This is especially important in a corruption world as Cursed Darts are absurdly broken for most of the game. Yes...it is immediately outclassed by either the Dart Pistol or the Dart Rifle...but they require you to farm shitloads of souls or get lucky with enemy spawns...for an enemy that is a notorious asshole in early hardmode. Farming 2-3 cursed flames for 200-300 darts, when you can already launch them, makes these fights a LOT easier. The Blowgun is literally at a different progression point than the Dart Pistol/Rifle (it's an admittedly small relative hurdle, but still). So...if it were me giving out these ratings, the Blowgun would be A-tier relative to progression in Corruption worlds and B-tier (progression) in Crimson worlds.

Your ranking of the combat wrench was a bit of a bad take. Like, the ability to pierce is HUGE on a boomerang. Not only does it guarantee two hits on basic enemies, effectively doubling its damage per use when its damage is already better than the majority (if not entirety, I can’t quite recall) of pre-hardmode boomerangs, but it also singlehandedly makes wall of flesh possible on boomerang-only runs.

The slime staff can be used for extremely efficient afk coin farming, so I'd put it in high a tier. The coin gun is fun but would be difficult to play around with without an ark coin farm

The blowgun is post-bee, not hardmode. It is actually very usable with the right darts.

Blowgun is an unironic S+ tier. It is actually obtained anytime in pre-hm after defeating queen bee. It does fair damage while in pre-hm when using poison darts, but this weapon really shines in hardmode. In a lot of speedruns, if you are lucky enough to find a blowpipe, the blowgun's direct downgrade, and then use ichor collected when farming souls to craft ichor darts, you can out-DPS the hallowed repeater against the mech bosses. The blowpipe doesn't work against destroyer, skeletron when his head is spinning, and is ineffective against plantera+every boss that follows because its base damage is too low to pierce their defense. However, the blowgun has 27 base damage instead of the blowpipe's 9. While I haven't tested it, the blowgun should work against all mechs, plantera, and even golem despite being a pre-hm weapon and using ammo from the beginning of hardmode.

Fast-firing guns with no auto-use are underrated. Handgun, Phoenix Blaster, Venus Magnum, these are underrated. They are very strong if you actually have the skill to click fast and consistently, which is not too hard if you try it, and they demolish enemies easily. I absolutely obliterated Wall of Flesh in expert mode very fast with the Phoenix Blaster Also, the Slime Staff is a very good weapon if you got it in the very beginning, and it's much stronger than the finch staff

I don't know what the community's view on the Flare Gun is, but I know it's certainly helpful for me in the early game! It may not deal a lot of damage, but being able to ignite swarms of enemies is pretty dang helpful imo!

for me ice staff is a must-get. it makes dealing with any enemy that cant pass throu walls trivial , gives you something of unlimited flight , deals decent damage with really nice speed , and comboes with every stormbow of thorn type weapon. + it is esential for building floating structures. i cannot understand why it is so unloved. also sparkwand is a must have for a true mage early game. good debuff and easyest to get. and lifedrain is great for crowd controll , metagating mages low defence by healtankinng a bit , and for hitting evasive grownd targets throu a wall.

Yeah, it's sort of ironic the way I did this tier list. I got the background footage of this weapon after I recorded the tier list. For the other weapons I put effort into researching, but I let my bias show when I saw that the combat wrench was an npc dropped boomerang, and just stuck it in D tier, which was the complete opposite of the point if this video, for which I apologize.

4:25 in all seriousness though, the copper shortsword isnt a bad weapon. it's fast attack speed and ability to aim it in any direction makes it really good for killing singular targets. though it gets outclassed other swords almost immediately, like the cactus sword. solid B tier for me!

I like life steal because you can kill enemies through 1 tile blocks with it.
