I got a taste of that when I went to World Market in Carmel a couple weeks ago. I drove there from Castleton, so I took Keystone Parkway to 116th, and then took 116th to I-69 to get home and got to experience a nice variety of simple and complex roundabouts. I also remembered your videos about the boundary between Carmel and Fishers when I crossed the White River on 116th heading eastbound to I-69. The more time I spend in that general area, the more I know that's where I want to live next if I can ever afford it!

As someone who has lived in Indianapolis and worked in Carmel for a couple decades, I love the roundabouts. Roundabouts greatly increase traffic flow. They cut my drive to work from 15 minutes on a good day to 10 minutes on a bad day. They cut my drive home from 30 minutes on a good day to 15 minutes on a bad day.

I love these roundabouts. It beats hitting every single red light on timers, where you have the red light even though theres no cars going the opposite way.

Wait until the average age of the population increases beyond retirement. Then you end up with boy racers carving up grannies st roundabouts. This because reaction times are so much slower and more frustrating if you're behind one such at a roundabout.

The roundabout that Jason highlights in this video at Meridian barely handles rush hour traffic now, and many like it will fail if the population increases further.

The population of Carmel can’t increase much. It’s squeezed against all borders at this point.

Love our roundabouts. I moved to Carmel 20 years ago. Lots of stoplights and traffic backed up for 1/4-1/2 mile at all the 4 way stops and lights during rush hour. Without moving or changing jobs my commute went from 25 minutes to 8 minutes in under 2 years, just because of the roundabouts replacing lights/signs. So much easier/faster to get across town now! They are each well-marked with signs and painted on the road so just get into the correct lane before entering. And if you mess up, just go around and try again.

After watching many videos about roundabouts in Carmel I decided to become traffic engineer and follow mayor Brainard's steps. So far in my hometown Podgorica (capital of Montenegro) I raised number of roundabouts from 4 to 26 and I won't stop until the number of 50. Carmel is for real dream place to live❤

As a cyclist and pedestrian, the crossing location for roundabouts in Carmel is WAY too close to the circle. A simple remedy would be to move them say 20-30 feet from the circle. That way drivers coming out of the circle have time to react to people in the crosswalk. I have seen this in other cities. Carmel is trying to be a lot more bike friendly, that would help

Wife and I moved to Carmel about 25 years ago. Easily the best place to live in Indiana. We live just a few blocks from the smoky row huge roundabout you mentioned that's in the middle of Old Meridian and Guilford. We jokingly call it the Carmel Go-cart Track... :)

My wife and I are looking to move and Noblesville and Carmel are top of our list. We are planning a trip to Indiana to look at them in person. Love your videos they have helped us so much in narrowing down our choices.

there's some nice art in some of the roundabouts, but they are definitely not equal. Probably the most hated is what i call the "hairy marshmallow". It was in a very visible roundabout, but it was moved to one of the more isolated ones. Another benefit of roundabouts is if there is power outage, nothing changes. No lights to lose power. You don't need anyone directing traffic.

Live here and have lived in the area my whole life, the one thing…the gd bicyclists act like the paths and sidewalks WHICH ARE AS WIDE AS THE STREET…they act like they dont exist. Then have the audacity to get mad at you for getting too close when passing

They are cool, the only problem is that after a while, you dont know east from west

Yep, switching traffic across oncoming traffic and onto the wrong side of the road to enter a highway is not the way to do it! In the UK you have two bridges, not one, so a super giant roundabout is formed, either under the highway or over it depending on the terrain. If you are going to have a single bridge the way to do it is to have a large roundabout on either side.
