Such a helpful and needed discussion. Too often we ask the wrong questions of the text on account of an assumption that the gospels are something that they never claimed to be. I’m not intending to propose an elitist view of reading the Bible, but 2,000 years removed it’s so helpful to take the time to ask sincerely WHAT the gospels are before trying to rush into what they MEAN. We have to be careful to mitigate our Western, Post-Enlightenment framework that we bring to the text, which starts by recognizing it, then learning about the gulf between our world and there’s, our assumption of what history is and how it functions. Beautiful introduction. I might have to add “Reading the Gospels Wisely “ to my reading list. First I plan to get through “The Gospels as Eyewitness Testimony” which I’ve been meaning to do. This content is going to be so helpful in helping people read literately, responsibly, and fruitfully. Thanks, Jon.

Thanks for adding another insightful perspective on the gospels. I think that viewing the gospels, the New Testament, and the Tanakh through a variety of lenses offer a more well rounded and deeper understanding and appreciation for them. ❤️

Well explained Jon 👍❗ I really like the analogy seeing history with through different lenses. Matthew = Jesus as king/messiah Mark = Jesus as servant Luke = Jesus as son of man John = Jesus as Son of God Inspired by you Jon and others I'm starting a project for biblical encouragment on this platform. Would be great if you would have a look and might support it 😊.

I am Gali, in the year 1980 I lost all my hopes, I became a thief and club dancer. At that time I heard about Christ, the Lord spoke with me though the Scripture. JOHN 14:6 “I AM THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE NO MAN COMETH UNTO THE FATHER BUT BY ME.” I surrendered my life to Lord Jesus and confessed that He is the only Lord and died for my sins to deliver me from all my sins (Karma). When I totally surrendered my life to the Lord He has delivered me from evil spirits, which suffered me about 6 years. I became a new person in Christ. I love Bible so much and started memorizing the scriptures. By the grace of God I have memorized Five Thousand (5,000) Verses from the Holy Bible. Every week I also remember all the verses. Morning time I remember about 1500 verses for praise, worship and prayer. (Including 100 Psalms). This practice helps me to grow strong in the Lord and also to help others for the glory of the Lord. John 14:6 is my favorite verse; I preach this word to many unsaved people that they may find the peace in Jesus Christ because He is the Lord of all. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYi5mqWvjLyWnpY

Question: What are the evidences of the Bible in real history? Thank you, Jon 💖
@simonerobledo81984 жыл бұрын
The Bible is real history! The Bible is not just one book but a collection of many documents. These documents are written by different people, at different times, but they don't contradict each other and that is one of the reasons why we can believe that the Bible is inspired by God therefore reliable.
@JonJorgensonVideos4 жыл бұрын
That's a HUGE question. Haha. To start, when you think about just how old the Bible is, and how well it has been preserved, it HAS to be saying something important. I don't think people would go through such great pains of preserving it's contents if there wasn't something absolutely true and transformative in it's pages. The Bible Project offers a free "Intro to the Hebrew Bible" course that is a GREAT resource for learning about the origins of the Bible and what exactly we're talking about when we say "history" in regards to the Bible.
@domingo-osabel4 жыл бұрын
@@simonerobledo8198 Yes. Thank you so much. I just want to add that the Bible is reliable historically, archeologically, geographically, prophetically, and philosophically, or even more realistically. Documents are solid evidences of the Bible, but there's a lot more.
