WS doesn't matter for a 23 year old. Ohtani and Yamamoto doesn't matter either because they're already perfected when they were in Japan. Sasaki is still young and growing, so development plan, staff, infrastructure, culture...will be the most important for him. And if I can pitch 160km/h, I'd like to pitch against Ohtani and strike him out. It's a pitcher's instinct.

A WS Title is top priority for a top prospect/rookie as it should be for every major league ball player regardless of age otherwise why play the game lol to say otherwise is absolutely ABSURD.Now to say OHTANI and Yamamoto are not factors in his decision is also ridiculous,he absolutely adores and looks up to Shohei and is great friends with Yamamoto and they play a huge role in his decision to come to not only MLB but the Dodgers as well and they will both be able to offer him guidance and also help to build a better player and mold him to maximize his potential.Now as far as facing Ohtani I doubt any MLB Player on planet earth would want that lol I mean I know it’s great competition and every pitcher wants to face the Greatest which Ohtani obviously is but it is the MLB, there is no shortage of immaculate talent everywhere you look so he will have his opportunities to face the best of the best even when he plays with Ohtani and I just highly doubt he would choose to try and strike out Ohtani a few times over winning multiple World Series titles beside him…..

No way Sasaki would’ve gotten a contract the size of Yamamoto. Sasaki isn’t as proven in Japan as Yamamoto in terms of achievements and durability. And look how Yamamoto started his career in MLB. Nothing is proven until you pitch in the Bigs.

@@JonandJim760 Honestly, anyone who knows Darvish's career and general temperament and the knock on him early in his career from the Fighters to the Texas Rangers to his time as a Dodger and just as importantly the WBC, knows that he was always known for being soft and unable to come through when it really counts.

Its hard to describe it but you know certain players have a penchant for winning and some you just cant see getting the big one when you really need it. Take the difference between Buehler and Kershaw for example. Could I see even prime Kershaw getting out of a major jam in Game 7 of the World Series when the momentum is turning against him? Hell no, he would get his ass Matt Carpenter'ed which he did in 2014 when he was at his absolute peak Pedro Martinez-esque year. Could I see Buehler or a guy like Bumgarner doing it? Absolutely. As you can see, this is not a talent issue. This is how I have always felt about Yu Darvish. Super talented with so much variety of pitches but after watching him for years, there is something about him where I just cant see him winning in the highest leverage moments. He always makes a mistake at a critical moment

I watched a world baseball classic video where Roki secluded himself in the clubhouse after giving up a three run bomb. He appeared to be pouting by himself instead of staying in the dugout cheering on his team. This type of behavior is typical of the San Diego Padres. I’m sure he will sign there with Yu. (the only reason why Darvish isn’t a Dodger is because he was rejected by the fans for getting shelled by the Astros in the World Series. Now, he is a Dodger hater.😅)
