I am a Japanese who has been following Roki for years and am sure he will sign Dodgers if Dodgers wants him. It’s so clear he wants to play with Yoshinobu and Shohei. At this stage he wouldn’t, shouldn’t say which team is his preference because he will be seeing many teams to judge for the best decision. After all, Dodgers is the perfect place for him. Nowhere else.

The Sempai (Senior) Kohai (Junior) relationship amongst Japanese people (and other Asian Groups but especially Japanese) is a VERY important dynamic. And with the Dodgers, Sasaki will have two of the greatest Japanese Pitching Sempai’s on one team. And I personally believe this is a driving force for him to leave Japan and for him to join the Dodgers. If he can put off some money (which is will UNDOUBTEDLY earn in the future) for multiple World Series Rings, I think that’s a chance he is willing to take. I wonder if Roki Sasaki signs for 2024 pool, would he be able to extend 1 year sooner? Not sure what is the rule So Jackson Chourio is good example. He signed jan 15 2021. His big extension comes Dec 4 2023. Almost 3 years. If Sasaki sign Dec 2024 vs Jan 2025. Would his eligibility for extension be same or different? If its different then he would be more incentivized to sign in 2024 pool. He lose maybe $3-4m upfront but he can lock in for massive money 1 year sooner
