I really appreciate your reviews! Brutal honesty is why I watch your videos. I have purchased RC aircraft based on videos such as this or know what to avoid. In this day and age this was a stupid risk in that companies part. I would spend the extra to get a better RTF. I also watched the other review with the two A10s, even with the model like aesthetics I would rather spend more to be in the air versus having to spend money to fix a flawed model!

Latest coming out of motion is.... set the elevator to 5mm up above the datum mark printed into the foam.... put the CoG at 45mm not 55mm; and if you have to add around 2 ounce of weight in the nose. I've got an 80mm AvantiS and it's probably one of the best sport jets in that class. But even on paper, this 4S twin 64mm A-10 is gonna be little light on power. And it wouldn't be the first time I've had to play around with CG on some of the lower cost planes out there.

That's by far, in my opinion, the BEST LOOKING A-10 I've ever seen, and remember, sometimes it takes a few flights to dial in a new bird. How you brought it down in one piece, on 'a wing & a prayer,' has me convinced it just needs to be stripped of ordinance & well CG'd So don't give up on it Nate, it wants to fly.... & so do you!

I genuinely appreciate that you bring enthusiasm for the RC hobby to a wide audience, and make things seem simple, easy, and approachable. The hobby has gone through massive changes over the past 20 years, and it truly is easier than ever. WITH THAT SAID: I really think it would benefit your viewers to dig a little deeper once in a while in a situation like this. The manual for this aircraft specifies a CG range that is less than a quarter of an inch. Use this as an opportunity to show how it's done! Warbirds/scale models in particular can be really sensitive to improper setup, and as your viewers transition into larger, more expensive, and more complicated airframes, they need to know how to do so safely and properly. It's important to check the CG and make it right before that maiden. Pushing the battery forward may not be enough - maybe it needs lead shoved into the nose foam. Part of a review is showing whatever extra work you had to go through to make the model right for the maiden - and it's of benefit to your viewers. Sure, the eflite A10 is better; but there is still plenty to learn and gain from this model - and maybe with a little more time invested, it just might be a fine flying model with scale flight performance to back up it's looks. Kick it up a notch and let's find out!

Not sure what receiver you’re using, but definitely looked spectrum. If it has AS3X/SAFE, you can’t just throw it around in there after programming and expect it to work correctly. Also if you were holding up elevator, I would think it’s nose heavy, not tail heavy. The way it looked to be nose diving definitely seemed that way 🤷♂️. Also the freewing glue is my favorite foam glue. It just needs to be used correctly. Not the entire tube squeezed into one vertical stab.

I have the older version of the Freewing 64mm A-10. I assembled mine using neodymium magnets to hold the ordinances and fuel tank on, and maidened it without them. Take it from me, you do NOT want to fly on a 2200 mAh battery. I kept my flight short, since I flew on the smallest battery recommended, but came in a bit high on my first landing approach. When I went to throttle up to go around, I didn't have enough power left, and crashed. That said, when I was flying it, it flew fine for me. It took me a few moments to get the feel of the controls, but the crash was my fault for not have enough battery for the timer I had set. I usually try to make sure I have my timer expire with enough power left for an extra go-around or two if needed, and since I didn't really have a good idea of how much power it was going to pull, I miscalculated.

That glue is actually really good. It's a contact cement. You have to put a little bit on both sides a very small amount like a thin film and let it sit for 5 minutes before you press the parts together. If you just goop it on and press it together it will take forever to dry and make a mess. I use it all the time. You can use magnets for the ordinance like I did. I wish they would include magnets. I also wish they would include an ELF to build it for me cause frankly I'm tired of building stuff. Also with all the advancements, there is no reason to use glue. Everything should be made to screw together. I just want to pull it out and fly. lol Negative Nate cracks me up. 😂

Nate, dude. You KNOW the receiver can’t just be tossed in there. Unless you EVER only bought Bind N Fly’s. ALL Spektrum receivers MUST be secured and aligned if using AS3X or SAFE and then forward programming has to be done(correctly). If not, this is EXACTLY what happens. I do this all the time with PNP’s. However, I did once have a receiver come loose in a plane and it looked EXACTLY like this. If it’s not a spectrum receiver, disregard all of the above 😂 Looks like and AR631 though, in which case everything above applies. The more I watch the more frustrating I find it. Especially seeing all the people who just take your word for it, when in reality it was your mistake.
@TheRcSaylors5 ай бұрын
You have extremely valid points! Yes, if AS3X and SAFE were turned on, on a Spektrum RX and I just tossed it loosely in an airplane, it would probably not even by flyable honestly. But in this case, those features were not turned on. In fact, I’ve flown hundreds of planes with Spektrum receivers tossed loosely in the plane (not recommended) but not as lose that it could hit a servo or something and have had nothing but success. Again, you have a very great thought process on this matter. I intend to do a follow up on the concept of CG in airplanes, which I believe is the main issue here. That, or too much drag and not enough power possibly. Happy Flying and thanks for watching and your input! 👍💯😎🙏⚓️

I added nose weight with magnets in the gun area this made landings so much better. Also had to add blind nuts too the wood mount and change mounting screws to bolts. Also had to add another spar back across the flap area as hard landings cause a Crack to start from inboard flap cut line. Also nose door sometimes gets stuck from steering and spring doesn't close the door in the air at times. If u don't want to add weight put a 4000 in it with the upgraded motors this should give u more flight time and good cg placement

throwing a battery in, not checking CG just before flight, not digging a bit more on the trimming issue... fair enough, is an out of the box review, but is it a fair one? I honestly think the problem there was the drag of all the missiles and shit. A tail heavy plane once with speed tends to pitch up, yours was pitching down (probably too forward). Getting to identify the issue and fixing it, would be a way to understand if the savings are worth it. As it was, it was friking unflyable... and it shows. But are you hands down convinced that is the actual performance of this airframe once settled up? Btw...the dig on the tail heavy guys was unnecessary... Awesome save in the first fly tho kudos on your sticks reactions

Not sure what you mean about a dig, but regarding the plane I acknowledge there needs to be work done for this to fly better. Look, we share our honest and generally out of the box experience on all planes. I’m happy to do a follow up on an airplane and talk about the adjustments and improvements the user needs to do for it to fly right, but as a first impression maiden flight I believe it would be unfair to make something look better than what it really is. This is the only Freewing plane that I have that has been more Dynam-like. Spent a bunch of time rerouting the servo leads, adding extension as needed, put an 8 channel AS3X receiver, removed blue box, and setup per assembly book. On maiden takeoff, plane took the entire runway to lift, and when it got about 10 feet high, pitched down violently. Plane pancaked into grass with a hard 3 point landing. New front retract and some foam repair, I tried again. Plane never would lift off the runway. After many fails, I packed it back into the truck, took it home, stripped the receiver, and there it sits. I tried leaving reviews on Motion RC, always giving the plane the benefit of doubt. NONE of these reviews have made it on to the Motion website. Shame on Motion and Freewing for putting this piece of junk out one more time, albeit with a new paint job. Seems like they wanted to rake a bit more of those hard-earned RC dollars from it's customers and didn't have a good new release so they re-released this pig. I have many Freewing planes, and most are great. Freewing does not go cheap when it comes to hinge or overall build quality that you will sometimes find with E-flite. But E-flite planes always fly. Hats off to Eflite's engineering department for this. Will continue to buy E-flite, FMS, Freewing, and X-Fly Model planes. Except now, I will look for the above-mentioned red flags when shopping for a new plane.

There is no excuse for releasing a plug and play airplane and then having to modify the wiring, modify how the ordinance attaches, modify the elevator, put lead in the tail or nose, take the ordinance off perhaps, have to use a gyro or it flies like sh#t. I can understand this with a kit, or an ARF, but with a PNP this unacceptable in my opinion. Ive personally had to do this with kits and ARFs because everyone puts different electronics, or engines, batteries, etc in the plane. But PNP is supposed to be as close to BNF as possible albeit just add your own receiver. Maybe with enough modification this plane will fly well, but for a maiden right out of the box and what could happen to someone if this was their 2nd or maybe 3rd aircraft and don't have the wealth of knowledge a lot of others do, i think I'm that regard, this was an honest review. This is all wrong. If an aircraft is tail heavy it will not have a nose down flight tendency. The glue that comes with the kit is fine. Dont overuse the glue and glob it on and not clean up after. If a little oozes out and you leave it, of course it’s going to look bad. That was just bad assembly of the model. The stickers on servo wires are not a big deal and would make it even harder to fish through the wing. I don’t know why you are complaining about having to fish wires through a fuselage. It’s not hard. Many many models have that design. It’s part of the hobby and if someone is complaining about that then this hobby isn’t for them. This aircraft did not get a fair review and wasn’t assembled very well either looking at the pictures you have. Looked like you rushed the build and just slapped a receiver in it with no Velcro or anything and stuffing the antennas in the nose (which is a big no no) because of dead zones on receiver antennas. They have to be 90 degrees from each other. If you had AS3X or SAFE programmed in then that would explain why it was flying the way it flew. The receiver has to be secure and not be able move or else vibration and forces of flight will cause it to jump around in there and it will think the aircraft is flying like this but it’s actually the receiver moving. So it compensates for itself and moves control surfaces that don’t need to be moved. Please get better and not bash rc planes. Some people don’t have the money to spend on an E flite aircraft. Be fair to all products
@chrisdean82355 ай бұрын
The bias is very obvious in this whole clip, very sad. No company would have a model that flies like this, set up was wrong. Trash talking a company about one of their products that was not set up the right way is not cool at all, fail.
@JN241855 ай бұрын
This is 100% caused by the way the receiver is tossed in there. It looks like an AR631. Which absolutely must be secured, aligned and programmed. Correctly. This was a really bad review and I have to agree, comes across as a hit piece.
@greg00635 ай бұрын
Loose all the ordinance. Its a big airbrake and will cause the nose to drop. The look isn't worth it. If your elevator is trimmed significantly up when you land then it's too nose heavy. (Or it's compensating fro all that drag down low) Same reason cubs climb under power, thrust is low and drag is up high. (Other direction)

Nate, please try the Freewing Vulcan 6s. Overall, I found it to be a relatively easy build and it is a MAGNIFICENT flyer! Plus, that bright yellow makes for excellent visibility in the sky! With that said, I have to admit that the decals are a bit of a letdown as I have one pealing off on one wing. It’s a bummer, but I still love the plane and I think you will too if you give it a try.

I really liked this channel. I consistently watch. However, lately it seems you let the comments get to you about too many positive reviews. You now are compensating by releasing multiple videos bashing products in order to just counter those comments. The no-name drone video with no flight was a joke. This A-10 video feels fake & forced all around. These videos lately feel extremely forced and not genuine. You can see right through them as you can tell in the comments. Guys, get back to what you do. Continue to do what made your channel successful. If a bad plane comes a long during that process, speak up on it. But don't do these forced videos.

I’ll back Mach3RC YES !!! If you give that plane to any real RC pilot it will not fly like that after 3 flights. The quality of this channel is bad. They haven’t made a real review in years it’s all to make money. And watch this man fly no offense but he’s bad. He does a couple circles and lands at most a very forced trick or two. The videos are annoyingly false because he talks about nothing for too long and flies badly. Most of the crashes are visibly user error.

Straight out of the box testing, with videos of the maiden flight. If they do a second or third flight, it is disclosed from the beginning. Otherwise they are all out of the box runs. Haven’t tried the Freewing A-10, but the 70mm F-16 flies circles around the Eflite 70mm Thunderbird. Way faster and lighter on its feet. That being said the build quality isn’t quite as good as the Eflite offering imo. Maybe try taking a Spektrum AR637TA and downloading the programming from the Eflite Warthog onto it and installing it in your Freewing A-10… since it’s basically the same size as the Eflite one I’d think with the correct transmitter and receiver programming it would fly pretty much exactly like it’s supposed to fly, like the Eflite one does…. Probably worth a shot…. And as far as CG goes, I always go as far back as I possibly can in all my EDF’s and the further rearward the better they fly for me…. Makes me think that maybe your control throws were off or something. Using the Eflite receiver programming and transmitter programming would alleviate those issues more than likely. Good luck with it!
@GreenerShadeRC5 ай бұрын
The big difference between the E-Flite and Freewing 70mm F-16 is the horizontal stabs. Full moving on the vs only elevator surfaces on E-Flite. The E-flite may have a bit more torque as well. Tailerons are very effective on the Freewing F-16. Regarding the A-10s, I have one of the same green camo versions in my hangar that has yet to fly, not for lack of trying. (Been flying my Freewing F-16 and Eflite P-47 and Air Tractor instead.) Have spent so much time on the Freewing A-10 and just about have given up. The E-flite A-10 is VASTLY superior.

With a 3200mah battery, plane requires at least 2 ounces of lead in the front. With a 4000mah battery, one ounce is sufficient. This is an old model from Freewing with a new paintjob. Landing gear is terrible. Assembly is cumbersome. Fit and finish is only ok. Plane has many issues, flying being one of them. This is definitely not one of Freewing''s better planes.

You can take an easy flying T28 and get it to fly that badly with a bad cog. BTDT by forgetting to attach velcro to a new battery. It’s wonderful when a plane flies great right out of the box and the recommended settings are to the likening of the majority. It doesn’t always happen. That is one thing that I love about the latest Eflite 1.2 meter BNF warbirds. Safe after checking that it works in the right direction will get you in the air and at altitude to then turn safe off and do your tuning up there. If it is really bad, land and do what you need to do. Before I would never do that with any controlling software, tune the plane au natural before ever chancing the safe software. It avoids the ride the dragon of death maidensof yore. Lots of planes tell you set ups that are nose heavy (not a bad thing) or their recommended rates are too exreme or too light. Expecting a plane to fly the way you like it on the manual set up is a crap shoot. Granted it shouldn’t be unflyable either.
