The regular season doesn't mean much. It remains to be seen whether this group will finally develop a "playoff gear" and step it up in the post-season. So far they have proven that they don't know how or even worse are unwilling to play playoff hockey. I'm hopeful but am also ready for more of the same.

@@billbowman8747 The regular season only means so much, and as impressive as this season the Leafs have been, that reputational leafs have of losing in the opening round of the postseason is still there, I will be up to them to prove the 2023 postseason was no fluke. Otherwise I see a break-up of the AM34-Marner-Will Nylander-Morgan Rielly-Tavares quintet necessary.

For the Leafs I will see this season as a bust if they don’t make it to a conference final as they have too much talent to not have that capability. The closest that post-1967 the Leafs have ever gotten to a Stanley Cup final was during a 1993 conference final that they lost in seven games to the LA Kings when both teams had been in what had been been the Campbell Conference but would the season after that be renamed the Western Conference.

It's like none of them have ever seen the Leafs play in the playoffs before. The Leafs are 24th in shots against this year. Last year they were 17th in shots against. The goaltending has been very good but neither of these guys has played in more than 28 games in any one season and neither one of them has shown that they can stay healthy. Come the playoffs will their goalies be healthy? They need home ice advantage. Tampa Bay will crush the Leafs in the playoffs. They need the Bruins in the first round or Ottawa or Montreal. The Leafs are not going to win the stanley cup. With the right matchup and one of their two goalies healthy they could win a round.

I’ve been a Leaf fan for 50 years and I don’t like pooping on everyone’s parade. The Leafs are built well for the regular season, however, teams like the Panthers and Vegas will eat them in the playoffs. Leafs don’t play heavy enough to compete with teams like that. They need to make the necessary trades before the playoffs if they have any chance. Sorry beleafers, they aren’t good enough yet.

Have you watched the leafs this year, they are playing heavy hockey. They are winning the most close games than any other team in the east. They are playing playoff style hockey. I agree that Vegas and the Panthers are solid teams, but we have a very similar team like Chicago did when they won those cups.
