Hey FishinMagician! You need to go to the best canals in the state!!! They’re fed by Colorado river water, they’re loaded with fish, and I’ve yet to see anyone else fishing them because they’re out in BFE!! The last time my son and I went we caught 8 smallmouth (we were targeting them), a 2.9lb and 5.0lb largemouth, 5 smaller largemouth, a 32” grasscarp (unintentionally) and 25-30 catfish. Every spot we stopped we caught something. Using minnows, worms and even bread! We were catching catfish every single cast! All decently sized fish. I’ve been three times now and every time had similar results. If you’re going to Pinal county you’re halfway there (if coming from PHX). But you really need to know where to go as there are so many spots with varying results like every canal. If you’re interested let me know and I’ll give you some locations. When I first started fishing no one would tell me where to fish and now I understand why. Once you publish a location it’s ruined. I’m convinced most fisherman give other fisherman horrible advice on where to fish. lol. I’ve found my own spots by simple trial and error. LMK. I met you once at Bass Pro, solid guy! (Both literally and metaphorically!😂😂)

I always enjoy your videos Fishinmagician, had back surgery number 5 Dec-12th got a staff infection about 2 weeks later had to be re-opened up and cleaned out. That left me with a lot of pain since. I was fishing the canals and urban lakes a lot until this situation happened. This AZ native loves canal fishing its close to home. Both the Fishinmagician, and Southwest fishing are what I enjoy watching on az fishing. Hopefully before this summer ends I'll be back at it again on the canals. Take care and God Bless!

Another awesome video brother. I feel encouraged to share a little personal information about my mental health and my success from my situation... Ive been on multiple types of medications, numerous councilors and institutions... Nothing seemed to really help me because most of the time, the reality was it wasnt the fact i didnt want the help but the fact i wasnt willing to change my lifestyle and do the work that is necessary to change myself. So over the years i battled everything until i finally realized it wasn't the medicine or the councilor that needed to change, but it was me. Fishing was one of those changes, being active and trying to focus on others rather than myself. Today im on zero medications and i haven't needed a counselor for 5 years and its all because i focused on me changing and doing the work to achieve freedom from my mind. ❤

I like to cast my swimbait into the mouth of the spillway and let it drag along the bottom on its own with the current. That always works best for me. Fish think my lure is a dead minnow

Green sunfish are so slept on as a bait. Theyre highly aggressive and dont get giant, so theyre perfect size and are always active as bait.

I spent years on submarines, with an 18 hour rotation schedule. This created a disruption to any element of biological clock. I then had about 5 years of normal day shift work life, and now I've spent the last 22 years on nights. Night shift is NOT for everyone. It does get lonely, and I've known many people who got their lives momentarily wrecked while working the dark side. My wife has always wondered why I can fall asleep in an instant. The road that leads to this canal, you should have passed a girl canal that's before the free way I believe, but if you ever have a crayfish net, it's heavily filled them. Good spot to hit though, it is a drive though. I know for you it's Def a mission lol

I'm from Arizona currently moved out of state but I grew up in south side by PIR And had some legendary fishing there Years ago there was a flood before when Bass were not introduced to that section of the river But one year all that changed You should check out that era Also there are some hidden ponds there if you go east there is a water treatment plant Back then we would have to go stelth to get there now I hear it's recreational If you go west there's some spots in buckeye as well check it out awesome fishing I'm sure it's even better now I hear that they made parks and rec fishing Once upon a time they used to do the tres Rios tournament there
