Great episode. I'm in the camp that is pissed off with both parties for exactly the reason outlined and will 100% not be voting for them.

Govts worldwide budgeted for them to die before getting the Aged Pension and here they are not only living off the Aged Pension but have Taj Mahal's 🏰 to get under the Asset Test and then can have $1.3million in assets outside the Taj Mahal before they lose pension. In meantime they are running around like demented bats trying to put it all in the younger wife's super or pull it out and put it bsck un so its tax free, so he get's the pension and they live off just the interest of 5% deemed at .25%, not a bad 4.75% tax cut if you can get it alongside CPI climbing Asset Test by $28,000 a year. Let's see what happens later this year when all the World's Treasurers vote to reform the welfare state shall we? Almost makes you want to throw them at the mercy of Brookfield, Bain Capital,Blackrock doesn't it, the carrion circling their super, inheritance, agedcare/palliative care homes....Healthscope, Estia...go look. Morrison era.

Such an eye-opening episode! 👏 Simon and Michael really break down the complex issues around housing affordability, immigration, and the widening wealth gap in Australia. I found their analysis of government policies and how they impact young voters especially thought-provoking. They also highlight the importance of balancing housing supply and demand, which feels so relevant right now. 🏡 Definitely worth a listen if you want to stay informed about the big-picture factors shaping our housing market and economy,

@emp731 You are correct - we're not building enough houses for our growing population

Winners: people up to their eyeballs in debt with multiple investment properties. People with 1 ppor that want to downgrade. Loosers: people with 1 ppor who want to upgrade to a more expensive house. FHB's. Next generation of Aussies. There are more loosers than winners in this government backed wealth transfer scheme

@andrewbroome7404 if 70% of Australian families own homes, don't they benefit from rising values?
@andrewbroome740421 сағат бұрын
@MichaelYardney not if they only own their ppor and want to upgrade to a more expensive place. If a $1m home doubles to $2m, a $2m home doubles to $4m in the same time and will cost twice as much to pay for it
