It's great to see all these Time Team episodes. It must be great to live in a country that has such a long period of occupation.

@@Fair_dinkum Yes the reason why l made that comment is that l am an Aussie also. The farthest we would go back is to the 18 century with convict and domestic settlements.

In the US we have had occupation for sucha long period but it was Native American occupations and it seems those in power want to sweer it under the rug. We need to learn our Native American histories and we need to stop sweeping all minorities history in the US. I wish they would do a sort of time team like show that would fill in the extreme blanks of our country. I won't hold my breath though considering where we seem to be heading politically with the burning of books and the laws being made to hide everything from our youth. It's so sad.

@@ttenrabdn I wonder how much European heritage was lost in the 700 years of Moorish occupation of the Iberian peninsula. Or the century plus of Mongol occupation and enslavement of eastern Europe. And I wonder how much bitching you do about that...... It's almost like everyone was shitty in the past and they were all about war and conquest, literally everyone.

“Foss” is “River” in Norwegian. So River Foss is River River. 😂😂😂 That aside, I love this show and am glad they are making new episodes. And that Tony is returning.

in Danish "fosse" is a verb which means stream or leak - as in "vandet fosser ud" / the water is leaking out (at a rapid pace). Since England was occupied by Danish-Norwegian Vikings, the river's name is probably a mix of both meanings

I can recall someone saying that in the future people will be excavating old rubbish pits for its plastic content. When all the oil wells run dry they will need to find an alternative way to manufacture plastic products.

@@michaela4024 in a way that's already happening with plastic recycling in Northern Europe. Because manufacturers are reluctant to use recycled plastic and are even more reluctant to change production methods to make it easier to recycle, less than 30% of the plastic collected for recycling can be recycled, so a huge amount of it ends up being burnt and has proven a more efficient fuel than oil or coal, because it effectively is highly refined oil

Around 29 minutes they point out the modern shop kitchen is built over another shop/building 4 metres below. Why is it so deep. I learned at school topsoil takes 100 years to build up one inch. That's 10 inches (1/3 if a metre) in 1000 years. Where did all the soil come from. Here in Australia there are 200 yo buildings and they are still at ground level. Did something happen to fill the buildings with soil or mud? Why is this never addressed?
