I have a single serve coffee maker, but I use the reusable filter cup with ground coffee. I have to brag a little bit. My husband isn't a coffee drinker. He was at a store and saw S-bux branded ground coffee marked down to $2 for a 12 oz. bag. He bought nine bags! It was past the expiration date by a few months, but it is sealed in the bag. I've been using it to make my cold brew coffee. I get two half gallon jars of cold brew per bag, plus enough for a couple of single servings in the pod machine. I think it tastes better because I'm saving so much money!

I'm an unapologetic Keurig lover. it works best for us, we all get up at different times and want one cup of coffee.....not a vat. and some of us are fancy and like flavored coffee's some of us are dark roast, some lighter roast...., we also enjoy hot chocolate pods. we like having variety of coffee flavors or hot cocoa's. I've even seen apple cider pods this year. So yes..we are Keurig people. But we also have no debt and our goodies are few and far between so. Coffee pod lovers unite!

3 I have refillable pods for Keurig. I run two cups of water through my pod into an old tiny 4 cup pot. Usually lasts me 2 days, because I don’t like waste and don’t mind “old” coffee. The grounds go in the garden.

My husband who has PTSD would consider coke a necessity. It's all he drinks besides water. It's his coping mechanism . He Started drinking it while deployed to Iraq and never stopped. I would rather him drink that than alcohol like alot of soldiers do. I buy it on sale and stock up until it's on sale again.

I finally figured this out about a year ago. Stopped buying the expensive coffee creamers . Just use milk w/ a touch of honey or sugar . I am having fun adding various things like cinnamon, clove , nutmeg, butter , coconut oil & vanilla or almond extract . Sometimes I don’t fancy it up . Sometimes plain is fine but using milk instead of flavored creamers , not only saves money but gives me a way to play around w/ the flavors . I made simple iced coffee for fall. . I just brewed stronger coffee & put in fridge in mason jar to cool. I put cold coffee, ice cubes, milk , either sugar or maple syrup, vanilla extract & pumpkin pie spices & sometimes a few TBSP of purée pumpkin . Stir it well. It may not be Dunkin Donuts but it’s darn near tootin close !!! 🤣 Hubby likes just milk & sugar .in his coffee. He realized the creamers aren’t worth the money . 😆🌺❤️ Love y’all !!!! 🙏

Learn to drink your coffee black. I started drinking coffee with flavored creamer, then I figured out the empty calories I was drinking everyday and the cost, so i gradually started drinking it black and now the creamer tastes so artificial. Once you drink it black, I don’t think you’ll go back.

My keurig is convenient...that's it lol. I also have a drip machine and the coffee isn't much cheaper then my keurig. I drink normally 2 pods in a large cup in the morning before I walk my dog. I did have a refillable pod but it's horrible, not good. As for the person who said you can't control the strength in a keurig...you can. I set mine on strong lol. I can afford the keurig so I will continue to use it. However my financial situation is changing so I will likely buy pods just for company in the future. I like the expensive greek yogurt but if it's not on sale I won't buy it. I don't like the cheap crappy gelatin yogurt.

For years, my husband and I stopped at the Dunkin Donuts at least twice a day for our coffee. Then one day we realized how ridiculous it was that we were spending that much money on coffee everyday. Our solution was to buy a Keurig. While that was definitely cheaper than the Dunkin Donuts stop everyday, we decided it was still too expensive. We now use a single serve Farberware coffee maker with loose grounds. Whew, we are now saving a ton of moolah. We havent given up on our love of Dunkin Donuts coffee though. We dont smoke, drink, or spend money at restaurants, so we consider that our one vice. Our house is now paid off, but we probably could have paid it off 2 years earlier if we had changed to grounds sooner.

Regarding Keurig, I have a coffee maker that is both pot and refillable single serve or you can use the single serve packaged...... we use the fillable a couple times a year, but I'm going to maybe generalize something..... there are some convenience things that are worth the cost..... example: with my disabilities, I would not trust my motor skills to make a whole pot/ could drop something that heavy, so if hubby were out of town and couldn't be there to make the coffee, I'd make a single serving. Or, I don't have the stamina to cook from scratch every day, so we might throw something easy but more costly together. I can sit at my job and take 1 more client and make 10 times the difference between the frozen packaged meal and a from scratch meal I made on my feet. We have to be careful how much we justify but sometimes the convenience is worth it, financially and safety wise and time wise. Our children are grown. When they were young, i chose to work less and be home more, but now, I'd rather make money with my energy especially since it's a sit down job.

My husband has a Nespresso machine, but we don't buy coffee for it. A rep for Nespresso is a neighbor so a lot of coffee comes his way. I have a DeLonghi machine that requires beans. My machine was free and I buy the beans when they are 50% off and stock up. We do have a DolceGusto at our office for employees because those guys cannot be trusted to keep a regular machine working and clean. I buy their capsules on sale for 40% off only. We used to pay for a rental machine that was quite large, but the cost was way too much and the DolceGusto is a great compromise.

Bought my keurig for $5 at the thrifty. Get my pods cheap and only drink 1-2 cups a day. I do intermittent fasting so with some creamer that is my breakfast and gives me energy for my 10 mile run. And I run water through and to keep clean and use soapy water to clean the holder. There are 3 of us and have different schedules . And drink one cup each day , I drink 1-2. Always fresh . Can get pods cheap at Aldi and at staples which send us really cheap discounts. Also I use for hot water for tea .I buy a big plain whole Greek yogurt at Aldi for like$3 and stick to portion control and has less sugar than reg yogurt. I’m cheap in other food purchases . I only buy coffee once a week at Mcds with senior price at my girls afternoon out. I follow all your other tips, Tawra .

1, 2, and 3, on the pods in this household. When i first saw a Kuerig machine, my immediate thought was why were they so expensive because the profit is going to be in the pods for ever more; especially since Kuerig was the only brand for some time. In the house we have a simple 12 cup Mr Coffee or Walmart equivalent with no ghost energy and a metal mesh reusable filter. In the detached garage with no sink, the other half has a Kuerig type pot and uses Safeway's Select pods. He also had several filters he would fill in the kitchen then take to the garage along with his jug of water. The garage turned out to be a rough environment for the filters and 2 remain but the pods have gotten expensive enough he uses mostly the filters.

For us we use a Keurig because the coffee isn't open so it isn't going to go bad. We aren't regular coffee drinkers so it's really just for when we have guests. An open bag of coffee is going to go bad pretty quickly but Keurigs will last a lot longer because they aren't all automatically opened. If we drank it normally I would def have a normal pot.

I am also a Keurig lover and usually only have it 2-3 times per week. But I buy it when on sale and I also like variety and don't care for cheap cans that are not coffee. We have 3 homes paid for and no credit card debt, and we shop clearance and sale items most of the time. Also a few weeks ago you mentioned vanilla from Mexico and I just wanted to let you know that we live on the Arizona border of Mexico and have used pure vanilla from there for over 36 years, and it is not nasty and we even ship it home every year as Christmas gifts. It used to be economical and reasonably priced but inflation has even hit Mexico and now a liter is about $5, and we get dark and light.

Greek yogurt may be more higher in price, but is more healthy for you. Higher protein & fewer carbs. Berries are a healthier fruit to eat. I like the different flavors, & do not use creamers.

I buy my coffee whole bean in 5 lb. Bags straight from the distributor. You know what’s in it that way. I put a paper filter over the pot,& heat it up the next day/till gone. I use a reusable copper filter basket. The non refillable pods are heat sealed at the factory,as the glue vapors are infused into the coffee, which sounds scary to me! I make my own iced tea by the gallon, getting Organic for much cheaper than anything premade. Getting beverage costs down/only bringing from home is a great place to lower the budget. I also tried to make work hours 100% about earning,& 0% about spending when I did work…

I think people need to learn how to compare by the math. Use those unit price stickers they put on the shelf. We are all out of practice on being economical. Mike is so right about people pampering themselves to FEEL better. You need to enter the grocery with the mindset you are getting necessary items . 2024 is really going to be harder for most than it has been.

Freebie Alert has a ton (in my area) for free 🎉. Also, I use dollar tree coffee and brew a pot, I put the unused portion in the fridge and drink off it all week. Pennies per cup.

2. I had a keurig until it broke I was given it, I went through more coffee using that than making a pot of coffee. I even tried the refillable pod still staying with my pot of coffee. Plus if I have left over coffee. I can put it in the fridge and warm it up the next day. No waste.I have a son and daughter in law that drink coffee at different times, They had a keurig They found they were going through more coffee with the refillable pod, and it costs more when they were buying the pods. Have many in my family that are big coffee. Drinkers. And they all have gone back to just making a pot of coffee. Now here's the funny part. I have a family member that spot a special express old coffee machine. And they still buy coffee every single day at $8 a piece. Makes no sense. I was talking to my youngest today. And we were talking about those other family member Talking about how you're trying to educate people. The amount of money they can save if they make coffee at home. We know of somebody that is asking for a large thermos to be able to bring their own coffee to work, They work in the cold and that way they can make it at home. It will be cheaper and they can have coffee when they need it to stay warm. Also coffee makers. I have people who have spent a lot of money. And I have people that have bought in just a basic 25.00 drip coffee maker.

Hello!! It's been a while since I've watched you! Buying like a poor man, and no shame either. Trying very hard not to eat processed foods. Love my Community Coffee and generic creamer. Life with Jesus and coffee is essential. Thanks for your tips! watched you

Essential for me would be cheese. Sometimes I buy great value yogurt for my Crohn's Disease but not every month.

No keurig here. We have a nice espresso/cappuccino machine we were given as a gift years ago, and love it. We also have a regular old drip machine we use daily, and a stovetop percolator I love and use frequently. We do drink a load of coffee.🤣 Of all those essential groceries (heh), the only ones we buy are cheese, and very rarely sodas (when they have an awesome deal and we get it to dole out as special treats. I don’t drink it, but hubby and son do.) We get coffee and yogurt from Aldi, so it’s pretty much always the cheapest in our area. We haven’t been out to eat in years now, but once in a blue moon, we get pizza. I do make homemade pizza, but there are times when I’m just plain worn out and want pizza I didn’t have to work for.

I think people are at the opinion that they are not being wasteful by using a Keurig machine. Just making one cup at a time.

I love my Keurig. However, I have bought reusable pods, and I buy bulk beans. MUCH more affordable. I also bought the Keurig years ago for about $50 on a black friday sale 😊 it doesnt do anything to bust our budget.

Have been using keurig for over 10 years now (thrift store). Drink 1-2 cups a day same with hubby. On different schedules. Not about laziness , I just like the taste of keurig coffee pods better Either at ALDIs or Staples on rotating basis ( they send us ridiculous discounts and free shipping) . Costs around 25 - 35 cents a cup. I do intermittent fasting so do not eat breakfast. The 1-2 cups of coffee then do my 8-10 mile run (the coffee gives me energy for my run). Healthy 58yo woman no meds. Works for me. But I can afford it now. Clean keurig every day with soapy hot water then dry so never nasty .

Anyone getting a deal on turkeys at Walmart? My Walmart isn’t posting the price and nothing comes up when I scan the tag on a turkey. December 31st I will have had my Toyota Sienna minivan for 19 years. It has been an awesome vehicle.
