Are These Birthday Cake Foods Better Than Birthday Cake? (taste test)

Every sweet treat seems to come in a birthday cake flavored version but are any of them better than the real thing?
Today we ate everything from Crumbl cookies to Cap’n Crunch’s 60th birthday cereal along side a traditional birthday cake to officially determine whether any of them accurately mimic their inspired dessert and potentially exceed it in enjoyability!
After narrowing down an overwhelming amount of confetti cake flavored foods from new, limited-edition products to some of our personal favorites, we tasked ourselves with the challenge of choosing between the cake and its adversary.

Q: How do you not gain weight?
A: Endurance sports (primarily running, cycling and some resistance training) and extreme discipline & sacrifice with our daily diets is how we manage not to gain weight. We eat mostly vegetables, fruits, some whole grains and low fat dairy on the days outside these videos. The calories consumed in a food challenge or mukbang are the only calories consumed that day and sometimes the day following as well seeing our appetites are typically shot from so much food and the thought of eating is very off-putting. Two days out we are back to large amounts of vegetables and increase to maintenance from there. We also often eat most of our days calories in a smaller eating window (we frequently bounce between intermittent fasting & OMAD diet as it just seems to work with our lifestyles and eating preferences). Anyone with a larger than normal stomach capacity like us, the drive to push through the discomfort of a challenge like this, and a basic understanding of energy balance (calories in vs calories out) can do it with enough disciple and intention (not that we recommend it).
Also worth mentioning is that we do not exercise to burn the calories consumed in a video but rather we are able to consume higher calorie diets due to our participation in endurance activities and said discipline with our daily diets.
Q: Can you make a “What I eat in a day” / fitness focused video?
A: While we’re sure that type of video will eventually make its way out there, this is not a health and fitness channel and we intend to primarily focus on indulgent food entertainment. We’re still in the very early stages of establishing ourselves within this genre and we’re constantly experimenting and trying to improve upon our style to make our channel a unique experience. Food is our passion while fitness is our discipline so, while we currently only have the availability to produce one quality piece of content a week, fun food-centered videos is where we’ll be focusing our attention (and trust us, it’s more fun for all of us this way). That’s not to say it will never happen, but it’s not a top priority for us.

Great topic! I'm also a huge fan of birthday cake and birthday cake flavored junkfood. I completely agree about the Marie Callender's Cake, I was blown away by it (it's not very expensive either for what you get). I was also sad to see the Birthday Cake Pebbles disappear from shelves, but it was good while it lasted (at least Kit Kat brought the Birthday Cake flavor candy bar back!). Crumbl and their cream cheese frosting is exceptional, but they're also a bit pricy (one of those cookies costs the same as an entire Marie Callender pie)

Love the cake theme!! Future ideas to consider: 1) Bake various boxed mixes/frostings to compare 2) Miscellaneous cakes from different grocery stores in your area: chooclate, vanilla/white/gold , lemon , mousse, funfetti , etc 3) Nature Valley crunch bars dipped in frostings/ peanut butter/ greek yogurts etc taste reviews 3) Unique combinations: a) cape cod potato chips flavors plain, with favorite dips, and added to sandwiches and bagels etc b) Hot chocolate with scoop of ice cream and different M and M flavors eaten as a though it were cereal c) Breakfast feast sweet and savory of your cravings!

Nah. The Walmart cookie exceeded the birthday cake as did the crumbl cookie. The only thing we were really determining was which items that were supposed to taste like birthday cake were better than the birthday cake itself. Both the crumbl and the Walmart cookies won against the birthday cake in their own rounds 🙏

They did at one point sell the birthday cake Oreo on a vanilla cookie and many people are upset they haven’t brought them back in a while! Primarily strict, healthy, lower calorie diets outside of filming content for the channel and patreon (with the exception of very small occasional indulgences/holidays of course) as well as staying active on the day to day with cardio and lifting (weight training is a more recent discipline we’re just getting back into though) 🙏
