Monkeyfamily! What do you think of these budget-friendly collector's guides? Would you find them useful, or prefer something more in-depth to go along with your collection of particular toylines? Thanks for watching, everybody! Have a jolly week! 🙏🐵

Hello Monkeyboy! Yes, I believe I would find these very useful when hunting down these toy lines; In particular the M.U.S.C.L.E. book will come in handy when I am able to restart my collection (I have made it a point to do so hopefully within the coming year!). Right off the bat it gives the total amount of figures from the original line, which I never actually knew when I was a child. A friend had a full sized poster with them all on it but I never got the chance to count them in numbers. If memory serves I believe I had over a hundred of them. As always, thanks for another interesting and entertaining episode!👍🐒

@alexjames7670 Thanks for the comment! Yeah the MUSCLE guide book is really cool; simple, but nicely presented and very useful to a collector I think. Do you still have the MUSCLE figs you had when you were younger?
@alexjames76708 күн бұрын
@MonkeyboysToys I don't believe so. When I moved away twenty-five years ago from my home city they were stored in my grandma's basement. I think that either my cousin "borrowed" them to give to his kids or my aunt threw them away. In my family, most of the women don't bother to ask about things before they throw them out unless it has beneficial usage to themselves 😞

I always enjoyed a toy figure guide. I much prefer a physical book to browsing on a website. Might have to grab that M.A.S.K. one.

@toypolloi Thanks for the comment, Dave! I agree, it's nice to have an Actual Thing! These books have no bells or whistles, but they certainly deliver what is expected. The MUSCLE book is an essential if you were to collect the line, and Cybertron Collectsbles have a number of different guide books available. Thank you for watching, sir! Have a tremendous week 👍🙏🐵

I think the MUSCLE book would come in very useful indeed! There's absolutely hundreds of them and there's no way I'd be able to remember them all. I approve of your light pencil marking initiative. A smart way to preserve a book's interior. Have a Tetley Tea Folk week.👍 PS I have yet to savour the delights of Elm Street and the macabre shadow that lingers over it. I'll get back to you when I've had the chance. I hope to do so before the Christmas season kicks in fully as it doesn't seem a very Christmassy film. I might be wrong. PPS Mr Council Tax Evasion - that's his name, specific tax avoidance is his game.

Wow! Thanks for going through the guides. I’ve been wanting to pickup The Real Ghostbusters guide for quite sometime, but never really knew what the quality would be like seeing its an unofficial item. Definitely picking up a copy of that and probably the others as well! Thanks MBT!

@MattandTheRetroRoom No worries dude, thanks for watching! I'm glad the video was of some help! Cybertron Collectables have quite a number of guides to choose from. Interestingly, I noticed that one or two of the toys in their photos are broken... The photos aren't the highest resolution, but the guides pretty much serve their purpose. I was extremely pleased with the MUSCLE guide. Cheers again brother🙏👍🐵

I bought an A-Team version of these a while ago. Very nice, although it didn't cover the variants of Hannibal, Murdock and Face.

@GreyHulk2156 Oh, that's strange that they weren't included. The colors on those variants are crazy! Thanks for watching dude; have a good week mate 🙏👍🐵

Greetings fellow Stereo Knife! All good useful guides - I imagine they will help collectors identify missing parts etc. before buying. The unofficial guides you show is good for the accessories lists. That ReadFive book looks lush but that £150 price tag is taking the mickey somewhat making it a very exclusive to mere mortals. I think the first edition was half that price, so doubling it seems like a cheeky cash grab. Thanks for the interesting video.

@reading_MOVIES Thanks for watching, dude! I don't know what "Stereo Knife" means, but it certainly made me laugh. Yeah, the ReadFive book is magnificent. I wish I had backed the first run, but it evaded my radar somehow. Maybe one day I will be fortunate enough to find one going cheap. Cheers brother! Have a good week man 👍🐵

@@MonkeyboysToys I think a lot of people missed it first time - Kickstarters are a bit of a gamble from what I have read. Your books are a good alternative for the more humble collector who can't afford expensive books. Stereo Knife=Scissors
Nice guide books Monkeyboy. I do like a good guide/reference book. Websites that have check lists are great, but you can't beat a physical book!

These books look fantastic. I’ve often said that I get as much pleasure thumbing through guide books and catalogs as I do from the actual toys themselves. As for that Read Five book, as impressive as it is, it just doesn’t appeal to me. I think it’s aimed at the hardcore nerds and I much prefer the simplicity of your book.
@MonkeyboysToys6 күн бұрын
@AllThings80s Yeah, these simple guides are easy to flick through and do provide a good overview of the figures in each line. Handy to have. The ReadFive book is a real belter, and I'd be happy to own one, but it's probably a bit more use to die-hard collectors of the line and toy historians. I can see it being used as the go-to reference book for the foreseeable future. They will be using it on The Antiques Roadshow in 50 years for sure!! Thanks for watching dude; your support is appreciated sir! Have a successful Trench Run week! 👍🐵

Great Comment! I for one spent ages as a kid looking at 'explore the range' type pamphlets that came with the toys, helping line up my next 'Want' item :) The Internet and these great toy channels have been awesome at filling in the gaps! A fully up to date hard copy really squares the circle for me, Nice, and another 'Want' item :)

These seem to be pretty useful guides at a bargin price. The M.A.S.K one would be particularly useful as some of those vehicles have tiny bombs that are always missing. I find it particularly annoying when sellers list something as 99% complete. Great video 😊
@MonkeyboysToys7 күн бұрын
@Retrotoyguysi Cheers dude! Yeah I find them useful in a basic way. The one that stands out as being the most handy is the MUSCLE one, as it can be tricky to tell some of them apart due to only minor differences in posture or detail. Thanks for watching, amigo! Have a splendid week! 👍🐵

Thanks for sharing. I really want to like Marzipan because I like sugar and almonds and things that are cute but it just doesn't work for me. I think it is more popular on your side of the ocean. Guide books are fun. I also like unofficial history books about toys and the toy industry as well. So many old toys had little fiddily bits, it is nice to have a reference to see what is supposed to come with what. That Red Five Designs book does look nice but maybe I will check it out later. I get some of those really big books but often find I flip through them but don't really read them. Trying to be better about space. Sometimes I get lucky and can just borrow them from the libray. Hope you have a great week.

@andrewandrew4568 Thanks for the great comment Andrew! I personally don't like marzipan at all. The penguin was on a cake given to me by a friend, and it now lives in my fridge, just hanging out in the egg compartment 😅 Thanks for checking out the video and for giving your thoughts; I appreciate it dude! I hope your week takes to the air in a majestic way! 👍🐵

@@MonkeyboysToys You know I'm subscribed Dude! All bells, notifications and whistles ticked, approved, consented to, rights signed away, but no. I need to retrain 'my' algorithm this end.
