As much as I love my Pollyville Super Set, I would never pay that price even if it does have two complete sets. Now having said that I still would like to find the one on the left, but $500 or less is my cap.

I’ve been binge watching your channel for the past week and it has been so nostalgic for me. My sisters had so many Polly pockets, including Pollyville-and no lie, I loved playing with them. I appreciated their intricate details and clever designs. I was more of a littlest pet shop guy, myself ha ha. I see sooooo many Polly sets on your channel that we had, and I am kicking myself for not trying to save some. Question for you: what are your thoughts on the redesigned Polly pockets? I tend to dislike any of the redesigns of my old favorite toys. I guess “choking hazards” made them do it, but I so love the teeny tiny toys because of all the attention to detail. Ps - my guess on the wedding locket is that it is priced correctly. There didn’t seem to be a lot of diversity reflected in the Polly dolls and so I would think that set is even rarer for it. I wish I'd saved mine, too, but I've got almost all of them collected again, now! I am totally not a fan of the new-style Polly sets, but I get why they had to make the change!

I never knew I needed a video like this: I loved hearing your comments and insight about prices, the rarity of various items, why something might be priced more or less, etc. It would be awesome to see more videos like this about browsing listings, maybe also checking out other platforms if possible. ☺️✨ I haven’t bought any Polly compacts, but I would probably also only want to buy them out of box… I agree with you that I’d want to hold them and play with them, and I couldn’t bear paying a bonkers price for something in-box, only to either tear it open or stare at it unopened on a shelf. 😆 As for the prices themselves, I don’t have as much knowledge of the vintage Polly Pocket market as you or other collectors, but even for things in the box, I feel like some of those prices were a bit much. 😵‍💫

Great video!! NOT a Polly expert here but with the toys I collect, I think those inflated prices pop up when the seller doesn’t know what the market will pay (no comparables) so they go nuts! But time always tells if they overshoot… it just sits. 1000% OUT of box here! I love arranging, examining, etc, that’s why I collect. I will buy vintage NIB if it’s something I may not be able to find in good condition out of box. For me, the value of a sealed box is the assurance that it’s complete and in excellent condition - to me that can add a lot of value depending on the item. But yeah it is a hard pill to swallow knowing it will lose some value after being opened. But, in exchange I get to enjoy it so it’s ok! But I totally get how other collectors leave some items in the box, after all at any time they can be opened, and while they are sealed they are maintaining excellent condition and may be growing in resale value too. ❤️

I collect in or out of box and always open now 😊 As long as the price is affordable.

Yeah I have no clue when things are too expensive. I’m always very skeptical of eBay and prefer in person or direct sale without the bidding

You always have to be careful with e-Bay. Sometimes you can find really awesome deals. However most people ask way too much for vintage stuff. Still being factory sealed does make the price higher, but $2000 is absolutely outrageous.

I kind of hate that everyone is going on sold prices on ebay to price their things nowadays. Even thrifstores are looking up ebay prices, it makes no sense. It's not the only way to price an item. Sellers should consider the value of the materials and the rarity too. And sellers on local sites should consider that the local market is more slim. After all these are little plastic toys we're talking about (even though they are very cute). I think if we start to pay ridiculous prices it will only become worse. On the other hand, I kind of get some of these prices for super rare items. I would rather pay €300 for a rare set than €300 for 3 common sets. So I feel I'm having an even harder time with the fact that people are asking more and more for the common sets, even though they are complete. Couple of years ago I was able to find complete sets for €25 or €30, now that is becoming extremely hard.

I don't collect Polly Pocket, but I do collect Barbie/1:6 scale dolls, figures, and accessories for them. When you collect something for long enough, you realize that sometimes you have to pay a little more when something you really want comes up at market. It's one of those things where you have to use your best judgement.

I think $1000 per superset is fair considering it’s never been played with. That being said, I need to play with it so I look for new used condition 😂

I'm more of an in the box 'never been open' collector. I actually bought some sets of the Disney polly pocket back in the late 90s never thinking that they may be worth anything in the future but only because I thought they looked great. Funnily enough it was only that I didn't like most of the Bburago model cars at Toys-r-us that on a different isle there were these Disney sets that caught my eye. Biggest regret was not buying the micro machines Star Trek (vehicle) sets 1 and 2 that I came across too.
