This is a very interesting approach. I'm enjoying watching. At 46:25 - You say that "every needle knit", which is not quite right. All needles were brought out to D position, because that is the default when you engage the patterning mechanism of the machine by latching the carriage onto the timing belt with the selector knob in KCII, but because there is no power on the machine, it defaults to the mechanical action only, which sets all needles at D. However, because you knitted from left to right with the PASS buttons pushed, needle R18, which you had pushed back to B position, did NOT, in fact knit, even though it was selected to D as the carriage went across. Also, you could just use the automatic needle selection at least for this first part of the heel by creating a 2 row pattern that slips the first stitch and knits the rest from R to L, and the slips every other stitch from L to R.

I have not dipped my toes into entering my own patterns yet but thank you for the suggestion. I will have to try it once I get to that point. I almost wish I had started with a non-electronic brother machine. I think I would end up with a better understanding of how some things work.

Woud it not be easier to hang half of the stitches onto the main bed, then transfer them to the ribber, and, finally, hang the remaining stitches on the needle to the main bed.

Can I do this on a none electronic machine just using kc

Absolutely! You could even make them on a non-patterning machine as long as it can be set to slip.
