People are so obsessed with high end luxury bags these days that’s it’s really turned me off. We all know that when you’re buying high end luxury you’re mainly paying for the brand, not the quality. I will always prefer contemporary due to the excellent quality and reasonable prices.

As you say there are tones of different ones but everyone buys same bags. With contemporary there is not one clear popular one except for the lepilage by long champ. Nobody needs a designer brand bag or a $500 handbag to carry whatever. You can carry all your things with a $20 synthetic handbag from H&M. From the point that you buy & spend a couple hundreds of dollars on an item that you DON’T NEED, but still you want to for your pleasure, to feel comfortable, to create an identity for yourself, THIS IS LUXURY. Anybody that says otherwise is so f*cking trapped into a f*cking snobbish bubble to think that if the worker class can have, then it’s not luxury at all. I wish there was a way to like this video multiple times! I agree with you completely. They are all luxury. There are different price points within luxury of course, but luxury is defined as “a state of great comfort”. So if it makes you feel good and you are comfortable dropping money on it, it’s luxury. I think one thing people need to remember is that all of these Chanel/Louis Vuitton/ Hermes (etc.) bags that we see these so called “influencers” and wannabes carrying/showing are FREQUENTLY borrowed, rented, and/or straight up counterfeit. Everyone should just spend what they can afford on whatever brings them joy and not worry about labels. And the minute I see or hear someone putting someone down with comments like, “You can’t afford real luxury.” etc, I know they’re not only a stuck up snob, but they have ZERO class. Love you! 😘

To me luxury means you’re able to buy a bag period (I own both spectrums). It’s a luxury to be able to afford any kind of $ on a leather or canvas handbag. I guess it’s relative. There’s people out there that can’t afford a bag at all. I care for my Coach’s and TB’s the same way I care for my LVs, Goyard and other brands.

Just like you said luxury is such a subjective term and those who only consider extremely high end designers luxury completely show their elitist character! I have been absolutely enjoying contemporary luxury brands which Is what I usually call Marc Jacobs, Coach, and other brands in that arena. I think some get caught up on only recognizing the heritage houses brands as luxury which is a shame.

Because I don’t care what most people think about my bags and their authenticity. I notice the details (most people don’t) and I appreciate the way the bag looks and have the money. I’ll happily wear bags of all price points provided I like them and can afford them. I have both high end and entry level luxury bags (for me Michael Kors, Coach, Kate Spade, Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch, Dooney and Bourke ARE LUXURY bags). They are all gorgeous and I love them all. The problem with high end is that they never come with anything interesting. Chanel, Hermes and LV sell the same designs from years! They only change colors/canvas or add some decoration. While Coach, MC and the other come with new designs every so often. That's why, when I have the chance, I always have a look at their shops. Plus, if someone is not desperate to have it straight away, always can buy it with a good discount. For me the price/quality ratio is much better.

Luxury is subjective, having a warm bed to sleep at night and food on your plate everyday is luxury for many. I have louis vuitton and Gucci bags and I have coach and Michael kors, and honestly the ones I have are all the same quality. My nolita 19 is better quality than my mini pochette accessories 😂 and my Rowan is on pair with my speedy 25, but with much better hardware, idk what is up with that louis vuitton hardware. I buy bags for myself and not to impress others so I don't care if snob people think coach is not luxury nor if bitter people assume all neverfulls are fake 🤷‍♀️

I’m not bitter, but I DO think most Neverfulls I see are fake because the quality looks so crappy. Just saying. I could get a Louis Vuitton anytime I want , but I don’t because I think the market has been bastardized by counterfeits. One quick search and you can find many look alikes and that makes it disturbing. I don’t have to be concerned about my BMW having this issue. I agree with you so much. Personally, even if I had the money I wouldn't buy Chanel or Hermès, it's just not my style. Some Coach or MK bags look way better (style and even quality) to me, and I'm sure can hold as long as a Chanel with the same use. The only higher luxury bags I've had my eyes on are the toy and small loulous from YSL. Apart from that, my eyes are only on Coach, MK, Rebecca Minkoff, Coccinelle, Longchamp... Thirty years ago my grandmother bought her Coach bags from the same department store she bought her Louis Vuitton and the price difference was only a couple hundred. Even funnier is that she can still buy them in the same department store but the price difference is laughable to her because the quality isn't worth the mark up.

I love Michael Kors and Kate Spade. Their SLG’s, bags, everything. I had a Michael Kors wallet I used for 8 years and I’ve used and abused that thing every single day, but it doesn’t look scratched up, dirty or chipped. It really speaks to the quality of the brand if you can use a wallet for 8 years however you like and it doesn’t look chewed up or discolored. And the best part is? I didn’t have to pay $500-$2000 for it.

I currently live in the Philippines but we'll be flying back to the US in a couple days since I graduated nursing school. Honestly, I get impressed when people here wear Coach, Kate Spade, MK, and Marc Jacobs cos honeyyyy, convert those dollar prices to philippine peso? You can pay one to two month's worth of rent here. I think it's such a western mentality that the only "acceptible" bags out there are Hermes, Chanel, LV, YSL etc. Like girl if I see my peers in college here rock her Coach bag, I already know she comes from money or at least can afford it. I would even see friends on instagram flex Aldo or Charles and Keith. I have another friend who's currently in law school rn and she's so proud with her first luxury handbag purchase which was Marc Jacobs. When you're a college student here and own the low end luxury handbags, you're considered a big time lol. Ugh Scott I'm praying someday you'll blow up on YT cos your content is relatable!

I think, if you start looking at the resale value of a luxury bag, then you just got off the bandwagon of girls with luxury bags. You are now under the bandwagon of girls with investment bags. Luxury is buying something you enjoy, regardless of resale value, coz you are buying it for yourself to enjoy. You are right, investment and luxury are two different stories. I honestly feel that those buying bags for their own enjoyment is doing luxury. Those thinking of it’s resale value is doing practicality, for which the enjoyment of choosing is quelched.

I think luxury is subjective. I own Hermes, Goyard, Loewe etc… I also own Marc Jacobs, APC, and Coach. TBH I don’t think Michael Kors is luxury at this point, it’s not quality in general. That’s not to say MK doesn’t have any luxury pieces, they do, but overal as a brand whole, no. To me quality has to be there regardless of the price. Chanel is a good example also, I only have 2 Chanel bags left because I refuse to pay exorbitant prices for poorly made items with subpar materials. Again it’s all subjective. As far as Sophie Shohet she actually does a lot of videos about more affordable brands that are luxury. She owns and has given praise to several Coach bags.

I can see the appeal of high luxury items because they make it an experience when you’re shopping for them. However, I used to say “I’d rather have money to put into my purse than m my money being spent on my purse.” 😂 That said I have too many purses. Some of the people I’ve met who have the most money, you would never know it to look at them. One man in particular that I’m thinking of had millions, but he wore bib overalls, ate at Cracker Barrel and lived over a supermarket that he owned. 😅 So looking like you have money and having money aren’t always the same thing. Can they be? Sure. Luxury can be something as simple as getting your favorite coffee everyday or as expensive as having a private island. It’s all relative and personal. Just my opinion. 😊

Check out Ciara O’Doherty on for a luxury KZbinr who isn’t a snob. Really stylish but down to earth. She owns the big brand bags but also has twoTabby bags that she LOVES and did a couple of videos where she agreed that Coach is luxury quality.

There are lots of brands like the teddy Blake bag for example are made better than those aka luxury bags. Those folks that buy the LV bags probably spent their rent money on it and eating cup of noodles. While I spend on teddy Blake, coach and get the wallet to put my extra cash in that bag and go out to eat a steak then baby let me the mid luxury for ever!👩🏾

Different bags for different folks. I’m admittedly a social climber and I’ve gotten far from where I once was. MK & Coach don’t fit in to where I live, eat, play or shop. From a purely fashion viewpoint, I know These contemporary brands have great styles and great quality, but from a social status viewpoint, they lower the perceived economic status of the person wearing them and that’s a fact. I can’t even dress, I have no style for real I’ve never been good at putting outfits together. Some people are into bags for aesthetics and others are into them as a display of wealth and both are legitimate. I feel like your channel is about to blow up, you’re watchable and fun.
