The first photo by Alex Webb is that perfect visual balance of art and documentary work in one. And the context is so great because this is one of those long lasting conflicts that never seems to settle in history. Simply the change in clothing and you could say the photo was taken today. Also the Trent Parke bus reflection is brilliant. Something one really has to have a trained eye for. Nobody else but a seasoned trained photographer would manage to take this photo in that way.

Great video, would love to see more of these! Minor feedback: it would be good to see the photo up on screen longer so we can really see what you are talking about as you describe things. Maybe even draw over/annotate the photo as well to show leading lines for example or point out things that complement each other. Thanks and hope to see more!

Nice video, Ulysses. In interviews on KZbin, Bruce Davidson explains that the pointed gun photo was set up... spontaneously,... but set. Thank you for explaining that Trent Parke knew what he was after ... A great image from a truly creative photographer.

The Bruce Davies one is a great choice. I read some time ago about this particular shot and it turns out it was a collaboration with the NYPD. The one with the gun is an undercover cop, while Bruce might've been the decoy in this case, to lure the robber to his flashy [sic] fancy camera. A good shot, clearly!

I enjoyed the video. As for legitimizing you creating more videos - I sub’d to you a while back because I appreciated your unique personality and perspective, as well as your approach to photography. I’ve never felt like you have put out a video just for a click through rate algorithm. You may feel like you’re not having much success now but I can only aspire to be where you’re at now. Maybe just a reassessment is all you really need. I hope you keep creating! 🤙🏼

Great video and content. Love it. For what it’s worth; the 2nd photo is in Istanbul. Looking at the mosques behind, I’d say the boy was jumping from Galata bridge to the sea, for a quick swim. The picture must be several decades old because swimming is no longer allowed at that location.

I hadn’t seen any of these before, keep ‘em coming! And don’t be so hard on yourself! You’re already doing work (eg. your restaurant photo featured here ) that can sit alongside these other great works.

Recently I've been trying to learn more from photographers of the past, so I really appreciate this type of video. It did feel short, but it was digestible enough. And because of that, I feel I can go do a little homework before the next video like this, hopefully.

Hey Ulysses! Cool video! Two points I want to mention. 1. Since the video title says: best photographs in History.. I was expecting to see at least one photo from the “classic”/“best” photographers of all times. Eg. G. Winongrand or W. Evans or R. Frank or D. Arbus, but this is just my opinion! 2. It seems that it “concerns” you too much the fact of likes/subscribes/views in both platforms (YT and IG). By the time you do such great work, again personal opinion, don’t even look any of this s***. It’s good if they are increasing, but for a photographer like you, with such talent, this should be the LAST thing to think about. PS: You are more than ok videographer, we want to see your photographic side/skills not your video editing skills. Keep it up!!!

Alex Webb is one of the best to ever do it. An absolute master of layering, composition, colour (!!!) and subtlety. Feels like you could look at most of his photos and find something new every time. I'm glad to have two of his prints at home :) I hadn't seen that Trent Parke shot before. What a mindfuck!

Great finale Ulysses! If you want to know the story behind the Bruce Davidson shot here’s a nice video I found some time ago kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYqZoGV5ZbRsjJY basically the guy in the red shirt was a policeman undercover that was helping Bruce moving around in the subways 🤯

The Alex Webb photograph, I didn’t even know there were that many flowers by the border at any season by the border. People try to cross the border to the US for a better life, but the go through hardships trying to cross. Some people cross having nothing, and some spend all their savings paying “coyotes” who r people that help you cross because they may know a way to cross. Some of these “coyotes” will take advantage of people n take the money leaving the people trying to cross stranded and lost. My parents cross this way during the 80s when they were in their teens.

Was really enjoying the video, then BAM!!! Just like that, out of your mouth pops the "F" bombs. Now I never, ever criticize anyone's photography, nor do I criticize their videos. However, I cannot understand why anyone feels they have to use that word. Surely you are an educated young man, and could find a more appropriate word to describe the photo. Do you not understand some people are offended by language like that? If I were to have thrown that word around so callously in my business... Well I would not have had that business for long. Please clean it up... you have too much to offer to risk losing even one subscriber.
