My very first watercolor pencils back in 2005 were woodless Derwent Aquatone. Kohinoor Progresso have existed for many years as well. But I guess these have a nice packaging going for them...

I have the Kohinoor Progresso too. Much cheaper and just as nice.

I still have a few Aquatone. They are nice, but I wouldnever pay such crazy prices for woodless pencils.

Hi Emma! This was a fun video to watch and I loved seeing your joy at trying out the new art supplies and your painting. Just want to say that there are other woodless watercolour pencils out there if you’re looking to get into this medium, some are quite affordable. Some off the top of my head are Kohi Noor, Arteza, Castle Art, and Cretacolor. I have some of the Cretacolor ones and they’re quite nice, I still prefer regular watercolour pencils. The stone paper looks interesting, I might try it one day, it’s a bit pricey though.

Ms. Emma, I am being honest and genuine when I say that in the 3 to 4 years or so that I have not only followed your journey but also, many other creator's here on Tube and the multiple varieties to express art such as: watercolor, acrylic, gouache, crayons, chalk, pencils, pastels and all out mixed media everything.... As I watched the speed up of you putting this $125 bundle (watercolor pencils/reg pencils/paper) from Karstgoods to the test creation.....I just knew I needed to let you know that THAT WAS AND IS THE BEST I HAVE SEEN THUS FAR using watercolor pencils and also blending drawing/shading techniques as you went along to to the finalized art! It is beautiful, gorgeous, realistic and you did an AMAZING JOB! Totally art in every aspect and I loved it. Thank you for sharing with us.

Hullo Emma, I have been a woodless pencil user for to many years to say. I believe that these are rather overpriced and do not have enough data about the qualities of these products. Lightfastness, pigments, etc. the plastic in the stone paper is what warped it from the heat! I would direct you and your viewers to reviews by “The Art Gear Guide” for all of the woodless options in pencils! I do believe that it comes down to personal preference. I still love to use the Faber Castell Albrecht Durer Watercolor pencils. The Magnus line is truly wonderful and so lovely to use! If you truly want to work like this I believe it is the way to go for quality pigments and longevity.

I would like to know the additives in the paper with the stone to make it work, and definitely lightfast ratings on the pencils. I feel this set is about 'looks and packaging' and gimmicky, would like to see artworks done now in 12 months time. Thank you for the reivew :)

Stone paper products, also referred to as bio-plastic paper, mineral paper or rich mineral paper, are strong and durable paper-like materials manufactured from calcium carbonate bonded with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) resin. They are used in many of the same applications as cellulose-based paper. - source from wiki, not my words

Wow, awesome!!! So different! Never knew these existed ever!! Thank you for showing these. I know that there is the woodless pencils in Lend. I don't remember what they call the wooless pencils but i thought those were awesome because you can blend with them very well. I don't think I'll rush out and buy these right away and the stone paper???? I don't know? Does it have any tooth at all? I suppose with those pencils you really wouldn't need tooth! Really?? Yeah I'd like to know if they are light fast or a few other things about these. I mean just like watercolor paints there are things you need to know about them. They look like fun though. Did the rocks and the water in the water falls really well. Stone paper wow. JK FLORIDA USA 🇺🇸.

I have nothing against woodless pencils, but recycled stone paper sounds like greenwashing to me. Wood is a renewable, recycleable and biodegradeble recource. Stone set in resin is none of those things. Sure, waterproof paper has its uses, especially for field notebooks and such. But trying to claim that it's somehow more sustainable than wood is just marketing.
@JannekeVisser-h8c4 ай бұрын
I agree. There is mineral paper out there that is 80 % calcium something and 20 % plastic. Who needs that?

I’m pretty sure you’ll find that these woodless watercolour pencils are just white labelled and made under various other brands. I know of at least four or five other brands that have done these before and they honestly look like one in the same. They are very nicely presented, however like you said their paper they are the leaders in their field, however, a lot of companies these days that started out with specialising in one or two particular products are now also trying to offering very subpar other items to try and increase their range. However, they are marketing these other products to people, as though they are of the same quality, have undergone the same rigourous invention and creation process and wanting people to pay the same price range as the items they specialised in. It’s sort of like Etchr there, sketchbooks you can’t really falter, but the watercolours, and sketchpads people have had significant problems with, and the quality is nowhere near what their sketchbooks are, and that’s because it’s not something that they’ve invented created or personally make by scratch themselves. This company is no different.

I think your paper buckled under heat because the stone is bonded with a small amount of non-bio degradable plastic.

also, stone paper is great for silverpoint and metalpoint as it doesn’t need any priming for it unlike normal paper. I usually use my stone paper (mine is the Yasutomo brand paper) specifically for that
