Those are amazing in their weirdness, it’s like someone kinda knew what the books were about, and kinda knew how to use clip art. Reminds me of something I saw a few years back where people were trying to recreate movie posters and such using only the basic Microsoft clip art package.

Some of them are 100% don’t judge a book by its cover. It’s not what the outside is, it’s what’s inside that counts. It’s still HP which we all love. Would love to read a mashup of Jurassic part and HP that would truly be entertaining. These covers made my day.

Oh my God! I'm Iranian and I have been looking for this video for a long time! This is an older version of the book. Now people mostly buy the version which doesn't have any picture on the cover. (I think you also have that one) but you can still buy this version from the stores. And although I think they've changed it now but in the last printings of this book they had spelled Hermione like "her.mi.on" but after J.k Rowling talking about it and correcting people I guess they changed it in the edition you have.😂😂 BTW Thanks for posting this!😆😆😆

The Harry and Hermione on the first part of Order of the Phoenix's cover could've been used on the cover for the first book! Also, those illustrations are by Mark Braught and they were used for merchandising before the movies came out and even during the movies.

I know about 4 different Farsi translations but only this one is available now . Sadly I have the second edition with "normal" covers. I read this translation and it is normal and not as wacky as I expected but edited to meet their cultural standarts .I really want to buy them but can not find any for reasonable prince . You must see their Witcher books ,they used arts from games for cover and of course picture of Henry Cavil .

Yeah they're odd but those "artwork" are misguiding the reader so i'm not ok with this, if you don't have a professional artist then use the same artwork from Uk or US for all the books and not just the last ones, just like we've seen in many translations editions that you showed us. This edition is just LAME!

These are for over ten years ago, idk how much you know about Iran or it’s government but back then they probably weren’t allowed to use the us version and probably whatever a talented artist came up with was denied, the fact that there were books published about magic and christian magicians is astonishing on it’s own, as time went on they went easier on the rules and let the covers be what they were supposed to be, like I remember I was surprised when I got to the last book and saw that Hermione was on the cover, cause she’s a girl and she didn’t have a hijab. I agree that the covers are bizarre but honestly I just appreciate that whoever was behind publishing pushed and tried enough to get these books published.

I'm also Iranian and have three different editions of the Harry Potter books :) and the edition you showed is my least favourite xD there is a new edition, which you have on your shelves, and there is an old edition with the first American Edition covers by Arthur A. Levine Books. Those are my favourites and the translation itself is also better, in my opinion. But they don't get published anymore :(

Look I am a persian and believe it or not, these crazy books were the best translation in my country. Me and all my potterhead friends have hated the covers. I can make an video and talk about them hours and hours. I remember the time when the publication decided to translate the spells in the goblet of fire and as you guess it didn't work and in next editions they reversed to the original words. 😧😳

As an Iranian Potterhead myself, I'd say these covers are funny as hell but these days they are missed. These editions were the first Persian HP editions, now Tandis (the Publishing company for HP books in Iran) don't use these covers anymore. Instead, they use some really simple and tbh, ugly! covers, you can search them in Google images if you want. just copy paste this: هری پاتر تندیس so yeah. these weird covers are a part of nostalgia nowadays. Even I don't have all of them in my collection. I only borrowed them from my school's library when I was younger, those times I didn't think of actually buying them for myself (Idk why!) now I only have 3 of them, so I'm jealous of you cuz you have OG editions fully 😄

These crazy books are my first harry potter books, and back in the time I used to hate them since they were not related to the story and I hated the dinosaurs the most but now that they are out of print I really love these since they reminde me of my teenage years and becoming a potterhead :))

😂 I remember when I was 11 and tried to find out some connection between the cover and the stroy. Anyway hopefully the translation by Mrs Vida Eslamie is the best one here and quite satisfying especially when I could read the original English books, there are only some little eliminated parts😄 which is inevitable in Islamic Iran and translators and publishers can't do anything about it. I guess once Hermion kissed Harry's cheek which was cut from the book, and a very fine subtle cutting "kiss" word from the Harry and the Goblet of fire and 😂 again " kiss" word between Jinny and Harry
