I wanted to add another comment. I do clothing alterations and general sewing repairs out of my home, in addition to doing upholstery work. And I have two ladies that bring me quite a lot of work. I told each of them that I WILL NOT do their work unless they've washed and double rinsed their items and used NO softeners. Why? Because their clothing was so heavily saturated with softener, there was actually a greasy feel to their clothing, and their clothes wreaked. I suffered thru it and did the work, but after they picked up their items - I could not wash the smell off my hands. It had permeated my skin. I freaked out. So, after that, I will only accept their work if it has been rinsed and rinsed and rinsed. And even then, I can still smell the lingering smell. That stuff is crazy strong!

The more you get away from it the harsher it becomes . I used dryer sheets for decades . I would never use them again. Wool balls are awesome

Serena, On Aug 31st I started to "clean" my hair w/ vinegar. I heard you tell Adrian about not "washing" your hair. Anyway, my hair was pretty greasy looking and feeling after that. Had to "clean" it again that Wed. And again the following Sat.This time it wasn't AS BAD. Again on Wed- and Better yet. I'm hoping after this following Sat I can just "clean" my hair on Sat- once a week. I think my hair needed a DETOX! Even though I was using my homemade shampoo bar. 🤷‍♀️ My dryer= the old - fashioned CLOTHESLINE! I ❤ the REAL fresh scent. Thank you for your inspiration. 😊

I'm in the process of switching to less toxic cleaners but unfortunately I had just bought the super huge jug of softener and a big box of Tide...booo. Working through those slowly but I've used vinegar as a softener replacement and it works great! It's expensive but I picked up a 30% vinegar gallon with Lavendar from Home Depot to see how that works as far as extended dilutions and scent. I honestly think this is catching on because I had a heck of a time finding gallons of vinegar at the grocery store recently. Great video and PSA!

I fill the tank on my hard floor cleaner with vinegar and a couple drops of lemongrass essential oils which isn't even necessary because like she said, the smell disappears when the vinegar dries. I use lume deodorant but there might be something nasty in that that I'm not aware of, I just wear a powder on my face so I just wash it off with water, I clean my whole house with a spray bottle full of vinegar, it works amazing on Windows, I have an unscented laundry soap and I've never used fabric softeners or scent beads or dryer sheets because I just cannot stand the smell of all that stuff, but I'm going to check out the detergent Serena mentioned, I never use candles, wax melts or plug-ins because nobody should be breathing that stuff, I grew up with a hippie mom and a lot of incense and I love it but I'm just not willing to do that, anytime my husband leaves the house no matter what time of year I open all the doors and windows and get clean fresh air inside, when I go walk in the neighborhood it always gags me when people are doing laundry because it just smells so bad shooting out of their dryer vents, I triple render Tallow and use that as lotion if I need it but honestly I rarely need it and even though I triple render it my friend's dog still licks my legs when I have it on 😂 so now that I'm hearing all of the amazing things and natural essential oils Serena puts in hers I might have to give that a shot, I've been just scrubbing my pixie cut in the shower with hot water every single day and letting it air dry, I scrub it with vinegar about once a week & it's amazing to me that I no longer need conditioner, it's just the perfect moisturized texture without too much grease or dryness, I make my own toothpaste with a video Dr Berg just put out when I learned how bad fluoride is & destroys your mouth's perfectly balanced microbiome, it has baking soda, 3% peroxide, coconut oil and I use peppermint oil, I've eaten whole food ingredients my entire adult life, if I don't recognize it on the label I'm not eating it, I avoid vegetable/ seed oils like the plague, growing up in the '80s with margarine, top ramen, boxed mac and cheese and so much trash I was such an unhealthy malnourished child I actually got scurvy when I was about 10, eating the way I do now and doubling down on nutrient dense food I have healed about 10 different health conditions both big and small, Serena and I are both the same age, I am 51 and I look much younger than my age and I do attribute it partially to the way I live my life. I'm not in pain, I'm not on medications, I can outrun my 30-year-old son any day of the week, I didn't make all these changes overnight, just a little at a time as I learned. Since I have doubled my calories and stopped a lifetime of undereating I have finally started to lose the 20 extra lb I've been carrying my whole life. Also at 51, I'm still experiencing clockwork regular menstrual cycles living my life this way, I recently had covid and chose to just drink bone broth and fast for a few days so my body could focus on healing and not processing food, instead of taking something to suppress the fever I let it burn at 101° for 24 hours and then got in the hottest bathtub I could stand with 8 lb of Epsom salts and just sweated for 2 hours and I tell you when I got out of that bathtub and cooled off I had no fever and my symptoms were completely gone, start to finish the virus lasted 5 days, I used the same approach the first time I had covid and it worked exactly the same. My husband is 62 and he pretty much eats the way I do and he's 6'5" and 215 lb with no pain in his body and he's not on a single medication. Don't come at me y'all, I'm not telling you what to do I'm just sharing my own life experience. Thank you Serena for your honest words, I know people can be critical of what they don't understand but I sure do appreciate you. 🫂🥩🩷

We stopped using fabric softener yrs and yrs ago. My husband did a deep dive into finding out what was in softeners and the contraindications. He was blown away. He said stop using it immediately. Our clothes and towels are a little rougher, but we don't mind. Now, we are super sensitive to the different fragrances. When we walk outside early morning or late afternoon when neighbors are doing their laundry - the air is sickenly thick with artificial smells coming out of their dryer vents. It's enough to make you gag! And several neighbors we know well, brag that their clothes smell so wonderful, that they double the amount recommended on their softeners so they get an even softer and stronger scent on their clothes! UGh.
