As a huge Loretta Lynn Friend (as she called us all), you probably know she's the MOST AWARDED FEMALE ARTIST IN COUNTRY MUSIC, including her and Conway being named the first ARTIST OF THE DECADE for the 1970s. They won Vocalist Duo of the Year for 6 consecutive years, 1971-1976.

Conway Twitty's real name was Harold Jenkins. His manager told him he needed a stage name that was a little more interesting, so he looked at a map and two towns caught his eye: Conway (Arkansas) and Twitty (Texas). Don't know whether his driver's license says Conway Twitty or Harold Jenkins, but he's one of my favorite singers of all time. Loretta and I both shed a tear when he died way before his time.

IT'S ONLY MAKE BELIEVE was Conway's biggest seller...which he done when he was singing Rock. Loretta was a fan of his when she first met him at the record company. He was just finishing a recording session, when they were introduced. If I'm not mistaken, Owen Bradley introduced them. Owen is a Legend in the Business.

Funny song! Conway Twitty had a lot of great duet hits with Loretta Lynn ("After The Fire Is Gone", "Lead Me On", "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man", "As Soon As I Hang Up The Phone", "Feelins'", "I Still Believe In Waltzes", "I Can't Love You Enough").

This came out in 1978. Conway Twitty started out in Rock 'N Roll with "Only Make Believe". Check out "Hello Darlin'".

Conway Twitty started out as a 50s Rock and Roll star. His biggest hit from that era is "It's Only Makebelieve". Three of Conway's later hits that I think you would enjoy are "I Don't Know A Thing About Love", "Saturday Night Special", "That's My Job".

They were great together, won many awards together "COUNTRY MUSIC DUO" OF THE YEAR, CONWAY TWITTY HAD 54#1 HITS before he passed away in 1993, as well as Loretta, had several hits also my favorite being "LOVE IS THE FOUNDATION" a great song by Loretta, my favorite Conway Twitty, was HELLO DARLING " a huge hit for him.
