This was a great discussion and I couldn’t agree more with what was said here. Scooby and the gang should always be appropriate for all ages. There is no need for more Scooby if it’s going to be adult targeted. I honestly hope that either the show miraculously turns out nice and wholesome or that the show gets canceled altogether. I don’t want to see this franchise fall anymore.

I have learned long ago to wait and pass judgement before things come out. sure you can look at whos in control and judge what your opinion might be based on their previous works, but until the final product is released being negative doesn't do anyone any good. Scooby Doo has been around since the 1960's, no single reimagining is going to "kill it".

Based on what I’ve seen over the past few years, it seems like WB is doing what they can to make it so people don’t want to see Scooby anymore, in turn killing the franchise. I do hope this series is good, but I do have to prepare myself for the worst! 🙂

@@ScoobyAddicts How so? They have been publishing YA novels that apparently are decent (I bought them but my "to read" pile is rather large). Their comics have been, and continue to be, very good. I get thing's like 'Scooby Apocalypse' aren't for everyone, but I rather enjoyed it. The whole debacle with shelving already made movies is a really bad thing. But that wasn't so much directed at Scooby Doo itself, but just corporate greed being corporate greed. (Its affected a lot of the DC stuff also) Velma sucks, but after 50 years, they all aren't going to be winners. There are people who loath "13 Ghosts" where it's one of my all time favorites. 'Scooby Doo and Guess Who' was fantastic! And a great callback to the old 'New Scooby Doo movies'. I did not watch 'Be Cool Scooby Doo' so I can't comment on it, but it appears to be in the same mindset as 'A Pup Named Scooby Doo' to bring in younger viewers.. The Supernatural crossover was amazing. And as someone who rather enjoyed the old Cartoon Network live action movies, I am pretty optimistic about another live action movie/show. At the end of the day it's all down to opinion I suppose.
@wendylovesjesus
@wendylovesjesus 2 ай бұрын
Scooby's character and integrity is already dead. The Scooby of 2024 is merely a shell of Scooby as he was created 54 years ago. So they've already killed him. And giving an opinion on what you DON'T want to see (and what the company has already been churning out for years) is not being negative and actually MIGHT do some good if the people who sign on to work on the project pay attention to their audience. The time to voice concerns and criticism is BEFORE something gets made to provide the makers with feedback to consider while they're plotting a direction for the project. Being negative AFTER the fact is what doesn't do anyone any good because by then it's too late.
@ScoobyAddicts
@ScoobyAddicts 2 ай бұрын
@@CaptainXJ what it comes down to is if they keep making shows and movies that no one likes, there won’t be a demand for Scooby. We just want to see them keep the integrity of Scooby and the gang and respect the franchise and its creators.

@@wendylovesjesusWhile constructive criticism is always a good thing (Fan outrage got us Scooby Doo and Krypto Too!), it's clear your mind has already been made up. As I stated earlier, I highly disagree with your take. The "integrity" of Scooby Doo is fine. He can be found over a multitude of media and aside from 1 TV show that was aimed at adults (Velma) everything I am aware of has been well received. One thing I have learned in the modern era (especially being a huge Doctor Who fan) is that nobody hates something as much as it's "fans".

A long time ago I lost faith in live actions so I don't have much hope for this project but from what I understand in terms of Netflix, the live actions of Avatar and One Piece seem to have done well (I haven't seen them but I have seen more positive reviews How negative) then suddenly Scooby is not as bad as one might think, in my case I hope they keep the original idea (unique episodes that do not have much relationship with each other where the bad guy is a person in disguise and not something supernatural real and just a very big mystery throughout several episodes)

@@ScoobyAddicts Ok. Well, the reason that I mentioned Amazon is because they picked up Batman: Caped Crusader and Merry Little Batman. They were originally going to be released on HBO Max, but because of the Warner Bros. Discovery merger taking place in 2022, they were both scrapped from the service. The same thing happened with Bye Bye Bunny, The Day the Earth Blew Up (both Looney Tunes films), and Urkel Saves Santa (it was originally titled Did I Do That to the Holidays when it was first announced). Mystery Pups was originally was going to be released on the service this summer but because HBO lost the distribution rights, it was scrapped as well. Batman: Caped Crusader, Merry Little Batman, The Day the Earth Blew Up, Bye Bye Bunny, and Urkel Saves Santa were up for bid to be released on several other services. Netflix and Apple TV+ were among them. Out of all of them, Amazon wound up being the one who picked up Batman: Caped Crusader, Merry Little Batman, and Urkel Saves Santa for their service Prime Video. Urkel Saves Santa got a digital release in November 2023 which was last year, while Merry Little Batman got an exclusive release in December the same year and they both became successes. After Amazon picked up Merry Little Batman, it was announced that a spin-off series titled Bat-Family will be released on Prime Video. Also, The Day the Earth Blew Up has a theatrical release date set for this Fall. As of now, there are no release dates set for Batman and Bat-Family on Prime Video. It is also unknown whether or not Bye Bye Bunny will ever be released at all.

Now when I 1st heard Berlanti Productions was doing this new Scooby-Doo Netflix series I was like hmmmm ok this could work I love The CW DCTV / Arrowverse shows despite their flaws and issues and they have a good track record with the shows. I don't think Scooby-Doo Netflix will be CW iffy'ed but will have to and see that's the one part that worries me about this new show. And both of you are spot on with WB and their projects lately and while I am looking forward to future projects like the DCU they need to treat their IP's like Scooby-Doo better.

On the first point made here, I think it was just testing the waters for something. These type of things get out but usually closer to production starting, cast hiring etc.. Since its for Netflix, they don't have to announce really anything until they want to. I'm not really excited for a live action Scooby, mainly because I don't feel like they'll get the right tone or make Scooby the main character of it, like they're teens but the drama isn't really about that, its their Talking dog, and the teamwork they all have together to take down bad guys.. its funny, its scary at times.. I don't think its necessarily difficult to make Scooby even ln live action good.. but if it doesn't have a specific joyous tone, it isn't Scooby to me.. my hope is it has more of like a Doctor who type vibe.. and less Riverdale..Adventures should be the main focus.. not angst.
@ScoobyAddicts
@ScoobyAddicts 2 ай бұрын
I agree, it would be better to have it revolve around adventure and mystery and not drama and angst. I think it's so difficult to get live action Scooby right because everyone wants to focus on stereotypes and making them adults with relationships instead of letting them be friends with a talking dog that solve mysteries together.
@LK3185.
@LK3185. 2 ай бұрын
@@ScoobyAddicts The issue is their relationship and traits, as basic as they seem are pretty defined and like iconic and so any interpersonal conflict feels a bit forced. Nothing should pull them apart as friends, its why it works.. can say its wholesome.. but its true.
