Thank you so much because this was by far the BEST review that I've seen of these two lanterns on KZbin. I have the battery powered one as well. BTW, you never have to change the bulbs on them because they are LED'S that last for life. 👍

The power move is to get some rechargeable D batteries for the lantern. Then the only thing that can go wrong really is the bulb itself, but if you have a reliable power source of decent quality rechargeables, your just replacing the lantern itself for 20 bucks.

Great comparison! Could be interesting to see a follow up review after camping, did you have enough batteries? How often did you need to change them? If you use solar charging and the other light, how did that work out? The specs on the box definitely seem better for the battery operated option for sure!!

Honestly I see use for both of them together, the rechargeable one definitely is nice with the relief of having to buy batteries, but that recharge time is insane.. however, we do have solar chargers, so if we used this one until it needed charged, then switched to the battery for use while this one was recharging, that would also cut down the need to buy batteries as often. And of course you can always charge at night while you sleep.

I would probably go battery but only if I had rechargeable batteries. D batteries eat up any costs you save in the original purchase.

I don't know why they don't build lanterns with the big 6 volt batteries in them like they used to. Those lanterns seemed to light up forever. Especially now with the LED technology available.
