100% agree with you on the heel angle. I always had issues sliding forward in Thursdays. That said, I like the leather shank. I've been wearing White's for a long time and never felt like I needed more support. I also like the thin leather counters. Enough structure to keep its shape for awhile, but if it eventually collapses, that's also fine. I like the look of a worn-in soft toe on a chunky boot. At least it won't splinter into pieces like celastic does.

The PNW boot makers put so many nails in the boots you almost feel like your walking on a shank :) My Nicks started to squeak something awful and the solution...ready for it...put the boot upside down and whack it with a hammer, I think the shank reseated to some loose glue and its never farted again :) I love the leather shank because it actually does break in with many hours of wear

I watched Carl's video when it just came out, and the heel was the first thing I noticed that I didn't like. All else is great. I think I'd still buy them for what these are supposed to be, a budget alternative to the Viberg 310, and have the heel reshaped once the time to replace it comes. Awesome job as always Steve, much better looking than originally.

I’ve been waiting for this video and it did not disappoint. This is what happens when a company is so focused on copying designs that they don’t take the time to understand what makes those boots worth twice as much. Patterning, last design and heel balance are what make a great boot great.

I really like the way the boot looks honestly, the chunky toebox is the reason you buy a pair of these and the soft toe in my reckoning is good i like the collapsed look that comes after a long time. But the points you bring up are all informative the structure not being good for the foot is a good point. Its interesting to see the boot torn apart. The rambler leather they use for this is excellent and one of my favorite looking leathers out there. People can say what they want Thursday Brings a value that other brands just don't in my opinion.

Look who's apron finally caught a little love!! A new pocket for the phone, cleaned, and looks like some Bick4 slathered onto it. Uptown there, Kemosabe. I definitely like the heel/shank upgrade. The half-sole choice you made, that's just your love of the Alden Indy coming to the surface. As for the speed hooks, for casual wear, definitely. A dress boot would've been more like the AE Hamiltons, similar to the Strand Oxford (I just wish they'd bring back the "weave" choice) and I'd rather see the even number of eyes to the more dressy lacing pattern. When does the puppy arrive? I KNOW you miss your dog.

i got these boots in Wicket and Craig leather which is stunning. i have a big boot collection and this offers something different with the sprung toe; aesthetically though it seems to be in the same family as the 310 or the nail shank. i like the heel and agree it is different, so this rebuild made it look like every other boot i own. i feel the comfort has been solid so admittedly i'm not a boot designer or cobbler but i have no issues with the arch, nor does my foot slip forward. i think i have felt that with cowboy boots sporadically. i also like those rubber half soles on the original. pretty amazing how they aren't showing any wear after all the walks Ive been on. valid criticisms that the leather shank could have been beefier and the misalignment of the rubber sole with the nail through the stitching is disappointing. in summary, i have been happy with thursdays black label line and i for one am fond of the brawler.
