Are veterinarians real doctors?

I've been told many times growing up as a vets son that they aren't real doctors, or somehow worse being asked why they're called doctors. All my gp ever does is push pills or refer me to a specialist who does one specific thing. Then they refer me to physical therapy or a surgeon. A dog comes in the clinic and gets examined, treatment determined, and might be in surgery within a couple hours, and it's all performed by the same doctor. They do dentals, prescribe medication that's filled on the spot, have the same lab equipment hospitals use, same digital imaging, but the biggest difference is vets offer ten times the quality of care and compassion. I've never had a doctor scratch my belly and ask if I'm a good boy! Thankfully I've never had a doctor neuter me either, so human medicine gets one check

I just learned today the stigma of Veterinarians not being called the doctors and it's one of the dumbest things I heard in my life. Do people forget Doctorate applies to MANY fields? Literally ANYONE who has a doctorate is a doctor! That includes Veterinarians, honesty I couldn't talk to a vet without properly referring to them as Doctor, it just doesn't sound right, like talking to a royal without calling them Majesty
