"Easy" is always difficult to define, but in the grand scheme of car restoration in general I say "yes, they are easy to restore". There is a wealth of aftermarket and restoration parts available; enough that one can practically build a complete "new" old VW from the ground up! Add to that the huge amount of information due to a large international fan base (forums, YT channels, social media...) and the fact that aircooled Volkswagens are just so damned simple to work on. What other car has a motor that drops out after undoing 4 bolts and can be handled by 1 person with a jack? I've owned and worked on many classic cars over the years, but VWs are my favorite and needless to say, there's one parked in my driveway :)
