Just purchased and installed 4 Goodyear tires from Walmart in SoCal. Service is very good, much better than I expected I would say. Something needs to be pointed out when we talk about tire- its rubber. Regardless the tire tread warranty might be, the rubber itself will turn old which reduces the tire's traction... You want to consider to change your tires around 5 years of usage, even it still has certain amount of tread left...At least you want to check them thoroughly.
@bennykumpe57164 жыл бұрын
Chris, sorry in advance for the long-winded comment, but, I wanted to echo everything you said in this video for anyone taking time to review Wal-Mart Douglas tires before they purchase. I had the exact same issues with my Douglas tires from Walmart. 215/65-16's on a 2006 Chrysler T&C minivan. Very good initial price - my first set got about 18,000 miles on a 40,000 mile warranted tire, tread was down to less than 3/32" but not yet to the wear bars. Walmart tire manager said he would not warranty them until they were at the wear bars. I had to drive them an addition 2-3 months making several trips back to keep asking him "are they close enough yet" for warranty adjustment. Finally, one tire was to the wear bar and he replaced that one only - got 'prorated' 1/2 price credit toward a new one. I had to continue going back another month or two before he would replace the others, even after getting 5 flats within the last couple months because the carcass was so weak it couldn't handle driving over a gravel driveway that I live on. Finally got all tires replaced under warranty but now 7k miles later, they are already almost half worn and my wife had another flat because of such weak tires - again, no nail found in them, just puncture from road conditions/gravel roads. I've driven Michelins for the past 30 years and cannot remember ever getting a flat. Walmart Douglas tires are not worth the effort of saving a little money in my case. I kept getting flats at the most inconvenient times and places - its just not worth it. Also had the same issue with them not holding pressure even though Walmart could never find any leaks. I was constantly topping off the pressure way too often. I now have 7/32" left on these and decided to trash them and buy another set of Michelins. Even though Discount tire is 100 miles form me here in Arkansas, they had always taken great care of me when I lived in Texas and their road hazard "Certificate" system is, although a little pricier, much better than the Wal-Mart Road hazard warranty that I bought. Discount Tires never tried to put me off when I needed adjustments like Wal-Mart did. Hope this helps someone else make the right decision. If you are not concerned with dealing with these issues and can only afford the Wal-Mart Douglas tires, if you keep them only for 7-10K miles, they do ride very well and did not give me any issues up until that point. I also need to say that the tire employees at Walmart were always very courteous and most of the time it only took them about an hour to take care of me - if I made an appointment. Their replacement policy and quality of tire is my issue with them.

My take on the cheap Douglas tires at Walmart is that they're cheap tires for cheap cars. You do not put them on a car you care about. They're for the cheap ass knock around daily work car that you got for under $2000. And too me, for that purpose, they're a "Great Value". I do have to totally agree on the service at these Walmart auto centers. It is the worst you can possibly imagine. Nobody has a clue what they're doing and there is no organization what so ever. Monkey's with a wrench in their hand could run it better. It will take your whole day to get the simplest of things done. It's just wrong.
@anunpopularstance3 жыл бұрын
These tires are like $53 a piece now so 2 years is good imo. I recently put 25000 miles in 2 years on a pair of Goodyear Assurance 80000 mile rated tires and they are already crap. Very few tires are made with any level of quality these days. That being said the mileage warranty is NOT a guarantee.
@jay-dt3zq3 жыл бұрын
You have to check your tire pressure at least once a month I'm telling you even If your tire pressure is off by a little bit that will significantly reduce the tread life And always make sure you have the recommended tires just because it is the same size doesn't mean that tire was made for your vehicle Different ratings for different cars
@kyles.35143 жыл бұрын
Yo.. Same thing here! I got the same Douglas tires at Walmart less than 2 years ago (Dec 2019) on my wife's Ford Fusion. They are done already. Almost no tread left on some of them and here I am shopping for tires once again. And they weren't $50 each.. more like $75 each. You definitely get what you pay for in the tire world.

Michellin Defenders are bad too. I spent $800 CAD four years ago and at 50,000 km have 5 mm of tread left. Tread showing small cracks. They don't make them like they used to

I don't want to be traveling far from home and have a tire go bad. What I want is to be able to go to the Walmart where ever I happen to be. I want the Walmart there to have in stock the same brand tire that is on my car so my choice will have to be between Douglas and Goodyear. I don't want to be 500 miles from home and hear "We can get you a replacement tire in a few days". So I'm going to be buying tires that are normally cared at most Walmarts. For Costco they lost my business when they told me the free re-balancing is only good for 3 years or was it 2 years. I've gotten about 30,000 miles on the Michelins that came on my 2016 Toyota Sienna. I've have had belt separations on 3 of 4 Dunlop tires on the another Sienna van.

For anyone reading this looking at Douglass tires, my experience with them is similar in that I was initially happy, but I am replacing them now due to dry rot. I had 2 Douglass 215/60r16's purchased 4 years ago. I will be replacing them at the same time as my other tires, which are 6 years old. The Douglass tires have very bad dry rot and are cracked in the tread and sidewalls. They only had 20k miles on them. The other tires had 35k on them, are 2 years older, and while I am replacing those for treadwear, they don't have the dry rot showing that these Douglass have. I should have gotten another 10-15k miles out them.

Those tires are trash, get a real tire brand. Realize that Douglass is a Wal-Mart's exclusive value brand. They are not built to last. Go with Michelin, Kumho, Bridgestone and BF Goodrich those are all quality brands. Don't cheap out on tires.

I'm sorry to that, dude. Kinda wished you watch a video by KZbinr Scotty Kilmer on why you shouldn't get your car serviced at Walmart. But what lures us in are the prices! 😂😂

I did watch the video, it however came out several months after I bought the walmart tires.

WORST TIRES I HAVE EVER PURCHASED! TIMES WERE TOUGH SO I THOUGHT HEY THE REVIEWS ON THEIR WEBSITE FOR THESE TIRES ISN'T BAD... WRONG! I SLIP IN LIGHT RAIN. COMPLETELY WORTHLESS! FIRST WRONG THING WAS A DAY AFTER BUYING 4 NEW TIRES I COME OUT TO MY GARAGE TO FIND 4 FLAT TIRES BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T SEALED SO I HAD TO CALL A FLATBEAD TO TAKE ME TO WALMART. 2001 HONDA ACCORD
