My advice for Alex, do your own independent research about joining the Air Force. Recruiters will tell you whatever you want to hear.

Exactly this! 7.5 years and currently still serving in the Air Force. I arrived at my recruiter apt with all of my research done on my end, questions ready, and I only signed my contract for the one and only job I wanted 🤗 I’m also an Air Force Reservist (serve part-time) which is different from those choosing Active duty (full-time) and little to no choice over the job, state and base you’ll be stationed at for the duration of your contract. There are numerous Pros and Cons to both part-time and full-time service. And yes, The Air Force has changed SO much in the matter of years. Basic training standards, head shaving, a lot of things don’t apply now that did when I graduated in 2018. In my opinion, it’s way easier now than ever before😅
@heatherfahsbender65836 ай бұрын
Ya I just don’t see Alex in the military. I served in the Navy but I don’t think Alex would like the yelling and exacting discipline. Is he capable, absolutely, but I don’t know that he would enjoy anything about it. You are told what you are supposed to be doing and when. No freedom in that. Now if he wants consistency in a job then he would have that. Go through training and do the same thing over and over again. It could also give him focus and a direction I suppose. I agree though, best to do your own research cus those recruiters will tell you anything.

This is for Alex, I like your videos. I'm thinking of ideas for videos. Moto : tell a short story. 10 min 1. _____vs _________ 2. Learn a skill and show everyone the process 3. Anything on money saving and what to do and not to do. 4. Interview each family member with an activity. One for each vid.That would take a year right there! It gives your take on the friendships. 5. Always show holidays and vacations. 6 craft projects. Always good to have one. 7. Read and get inspired then pass it on to me! 8. Drive around and show us what ever seams boring to you. It may be interesting to someone on here. 9. Please don't repeat your lack of being online you own none of us the video. Don't apologize. 10. Play with the dogs! I'll watch that all day! There do what you love and show it don't tell it. Love this family!

I feel like you should just ask Tristen if he wants to be adopted. For you guys of course adoption isn't needed to love them as your child, but also Melinda deep down always wanted to be adopted even though you treated her like your child. Maybe he doesnt know its an option or feels awkward for asking but even if he says no im sure it would mean so much to him to even just know you guys want to legally make him your son as well. Plus like another commenter said you guys would have parental rights incase anything ever happened. Either way though I love seeing Tristen, it really feels like he was the missing piece. Anyways if she is open to it I would love an update on Halie's mental and physical health, I'm curious how she manages daily symptoms. I also struggle with mental health and POTS.

Be sure to check with your attorney about adopting Tristan...I know here is SC if my husband were to pass away before me, at my passing his daughter is not my heir and my family would divide my belonging, no matter what my will says. To hear that Alex was separated from his bio siblings as a child is truly heartbreaking. I'll give the other adoptive family the benefit of doubt and say that maybe they are related to Alex's bio siblings on the paternal side. This is still no excuse to separate a sibling group. At the end of the day, fostering and adoption should be out of the best interest for the CHILDREN. I cannot imagine being separated from my "half" siblings growing up. They are my world. To know that his sister didn't even know about him, is crushing. All in all, I'm glad that Alex was joined into a family that does not treat him differently, despite any biological differences. Take care, Alex. Congratulations on being reunited with your bio siblings!

Alex, I was an Air Force Medic. It was one of the best decisions of my life. Although, I was injured while on, they now pay me a settlement for the rest of my life. I also had my education MOSTLY paid for, and still get healthcare. Not going to lie... life SUCKSSSSSSS when you're lower ranking. But once you start making rank, it gets a little better. It would also SUCK being away from family if you're used to such a large family. They REALLY do have your best at mind, even if it doesn't feel like it. Also, I went to basic 10 years ago now. Shaving your head was still required for the boys in basic training, but the uniform regs have relaxed SOOOOOO much since 2020 and the uniform changes. Your hair would need to be shorter, but not by much

With so many young people in your family, statistically there has to be an increasing likelihood that at least one of them might be gay. For me it is important that everyone feels comfortable enough to express themselves in whatever way they feel fit and thankfully in todays society being gay does not have to be the big issue it once used to be. But I wonder how that might sit with your religious beliefs. You are such fantastic parents to all these siblings but would love to know your stance on being gay.

Alex - contacts? How often do you change them? They shouldn’t feel like there is anything in your eye - or scratchy etc. I used to have contacts that I could wear a few days, but my doctor really discouraged that. Now I use the daily wear contacts that are supposed to be much safer. I suggest you check about the safest way to wear contacts, because you sure don’t want to risk getting any infections in your eye!!! My doctor read me the friendly “riot act” re only wearing contacts that were new and clean. Best wishes for sure about this Alex, cuz you are of course very handsome wearing contacts - but please be safe.

A little info on the Air Force for Alex: My husband was enlisted in the Air Force for 8 years. They don't make you shave your head; the haircut is called a high and tight. Short on top and really close on the sides, but you are not required to just shave your head. Also, your wear a hat most of the time when in your uniform and not under cover (IE, outside) anyway. Edit: After talking to my husband, they do cut your hair in basic to be the same as everybody elses, which might be very short, but as a creeer Airman, you can wear your hair as a high and tight haircut in the style you want as long as it doesn't touch your ears or eyebrows, or exceed 2 inches in length.

To add to my comment for Alex, if shaving of the head is still neccesary, here's why. The purpose of basic training is to tear you down, and then build you back up again (as a team). Hair being the same, uniforms being the same, etc all levels the playing field.
