No, if anything, it helps for people such as I, to truly see how authentic and passionate the work and research done for the game.

Astute. That really helps to hear is honestly that is exactly what I am hoping for! That the experience feels credible - like Band of Brothers - and thereby creates immersion. And the the passion of the team is felt and players respond in kind.

I love all these details! Also, McManus is a great historian imo. You've worked with him for this game?
@burdenofcommand20948 ай бұрын
Directly! Early on he read through all of our interactive fiction and gave us feedback. He has also answered historical questions etc for us. He is an active supporter as well :) My fantasy is also we will get him on a live stream doing live historical commentary. Pretty good chance :). Luke (lead)

@@burdenofcommand2094 that's so cool to involve a historian like him! I'm reading one of his books now, actually. Can't wait to enjoy the game

I think this is a very nice addition. At worst, if you want to add this and are unsure, you can maybe have an option of whether or not to have this enabled. This might be a similar idea to having developer commentary on or off that some games have.
@burdenofcommand20948 ай бұрын
Man would love to do dev commentary. Especially about why our combat system is quite different from the usual bang, bang, bang you’re dead of games (we focus instead on suppresion and Assaults (the ‘four Fs’ ) based on books like Brains and Bullets. But limited resources as a small indie unfortunately . Maybe in later updates… Thanks for commenting! Luke (lead)

i think that having it as a option would be the best. At times i just want to play a game, other times i want to dig in deep and understand the history behind the game.

No way. I have learnt so much about WW2 by reading the extra bits added to the manuals. This is better still.

All the great games are doing it, Pentiment, Pillars of Eternity 2!

Pentiment. That is most interesting. Thank you. Did not realize. The analogy to Pillars (great game) is a good one and makes me think you are exactly right! Good fantasy games have been doing for awhile. So why not hisotrical, seriously a useful analogy, new to me. 🫡🙏 Luke (lead)

@@burdenofcommand2094 Exactly, also hope you are able to put a little bibliography in the credits that was very cool thing about Pentiment. I would highly recommend Pentiment to anyone who is into history, both the specific period (early modern Bavaria) but also anyone interested in history as a field, it's very much about how stories propagate through time, it's a masterpiece imo. Great work on the game so far, can't wait to play it when it comes out. Will be there day 1! 🫡
