had a question regarding this matter. maybe a brother knows the answer to this. Didnt Allah (swt) commanded Prophet Ibrahim (as) to sacrifices his Son ? I know Allah (swt) saved him from this test, however the point is that Allah commanded Prophet Ibrahim (as) to do such a thing in the first place right ? now the verse you posted is very beautiful and clear but it also contradicts the story of Prophet Ibrahim (as) regarding this matter.
@-AEON-4 жыл бұрын
@@xXxFirewalkerxXx I'm not a scholar, but just as you said, it's a test to see how pious prophet Ibrahim is. Of course Allah won't allow the killing of babies, so it's just to see if prophet Ibrahim would do it even if we think it's wrong. And as you can see clearly, Allah stopped him, after prophet Ibrahim was about to follow the command.
@xXxFirewalkerxXx4 жыл бұрын

Argument from fitrah is a really powerful one. SobhannAllah.
@helsharidy1235 жыл бұрын
@@snowstreams7503 The story of Ibraheem, peace be upon him, wouldn't be significant if it weren't for the fitrah that tells you killing children is wrong. At the end of the day, his son wasn't killed because Allah is al-Adl, or the Just, which supports the notion that the fitrah is significant because here we have Allah appealing to our nature of what is good and not letting Ibraheem kill his son. To say that Ibraheem would have killed him if Allah didn't stop him is baseless, because I think the opposite. You're better off arguing about Khidr, in the Qur'an, who was a man (we don't know how status in the eyes of God) that was commanded to do things that were against the fitrah, such as killing a kid, and the justification given was because of some future good. This is different than killing the caananites, because the justification was that their fathers sinned, which doesn't make any sense. In the story of Khidr, he did something contrary to his fitrah but the reason for it was revealed, and it was a good reason, which makes the action moral. The same cannot be said for the Canaanites. Moral of the story? If you're commanded to do something clearly wrong, like killing a baby, because God told you to and you weren't told the reason, then don't do it. This could be why Allah stopped Ibraheem.
@helsharidy1235 жыл бұрын
@@snowstreams7503 Wallahi I'm inclined to agree with you, but It's definitely a different opinion that I hold of the importance of the story of Ibraheem, peace be upon him. You are right, Snow Streams, because I did challenge Shamsi's criticism of the Jew in the video in my mind when I listened to it. I'm at a loss, though, about the benefit of the story of Ibraheem. Is the only benefit of the story of Ibraheem and Ismaeel that we should obey Allah despite our fitrah or is it _"Allah won't make you do something against your clear fitrah (unless it's for a good, _*_revealed_*_ reason like the case of Khidr)."_ If I'm wrong, you should be able to provide a command from the Qur'an or Hadith that goes against our clear fitrah. Could you provide an example of something in Qur'anic commandments or Hadith commandments that go against our fitrah? Something as clear as killing a baby would be helpful, inshallah. In addition, you mentioned the point of argument should be that the reason given to kill the caananites was a bad reason, but this would have to be based on our fitrah, wouldn't it? It couldn't be based off of Qur'anic revelation, because then it would be pointless to argue about it. If you want to argue that it's not the killing of the baby that's against the fitrah, but the terrible reasoning, that's fine but that means that in this case, their fitry understanding of right and wrong logic overrides their commandment from _"God."_ How could anyone ever reach Islam if their fitrah didn't challenge their God?

And to never insult people as the Prophet, alayhi salatu w salaam, never, ever abused anyone subhanAllah. Allah tells us that by returning harm with good we can turn our enemies into friends bi'ithnillah. And to not be harsh as that would only drive people away. To plant the seed of resentment in someone's heart is already a big problem but what's worse is to do so while inviting to Allah as the person may associate that ill feeling with Islam The evil of becoming arrogant and resentful toward your opponents in debates is a real threat to the sincerity and health of our hearts W Asalaam alaykum w rahmatullah

I love how adept Shamsi is in choosing the first question he starts off with. Here he starts off with "are we more just than God?". The other guy knew at that moment he was going to drown in this debate. By the way, Shamsi is referring to the command in Old Testament to kill from a people called Amalekites. And Samuel said to Saul, “The Lord sent me to anoint you king over his people Israel; now therefore listen to the words of the Lord. Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘I have noted what Amalek did to Israel in opposing them on the way when they came up out of Egypt. Now go and strike Amalek and devote to destruction all that they have. Do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’” (1 Sam 15:1‑3)

Though the enemies of the God of the Bible are frequently heard criticizing Israel’s conquest of Canaan, the fact is, such a conquest was in complete harmony with God’s perfectly loving, holy, and righteous nature. After patiently waiting for hundreds of years, God eventually used the Israelites to bring judgment upon myriads of wicked Canaanites. Simultaneously, He spared their children a fate much worse than physical death-the horror of growing up in a reprehensible culture and becoming like their hedonistic parents-and immediately ushered them into a pain-free, marvelous place called Paradise (Luke 16:19-31; 23:43). FURTHER MORE OLD TESTAMENT THEOCRACY (the commonwealth of Israel from the time of Moses until the election of Saul as king) WAS UNIQUE AND TEMPORARY. IT WAS NOT THE IDEAL FOR ALL TIME BUT THE MEANS TO A PROMISED NEW COVENANT.
