Are We Starting To Get Into Bust Territory With Jedrick Wills?

It's time we talk about Jedrick Wills of the #ClevelandBrowns. Jedrick came to the #Browns in 2020 as a top 10 draft pick and a guy they expected to be the missing piece to anchor the left side of their line. The plan was to match the young Wills along side perennial Pro Bowler Joel Bitonio, Wyatt Teller and Jack Conklin to have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL making holes and driving defensive lines back for their pair of top running back Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt.
Wills has been streaky thus far as a pro. It's well documented that he had to make the transition from Right Tackle where he played in college at Alabama to Left Tackle in the NFL. Jed also was hurt all of his second season as a pro in 2021 dealing with an injury he suffered the very first game of the season against the powerful Kansas City Chiefs. Jedrick battled all season and did his best to be on the field as much as possible. The injury certainly impacted his play and may have stunted his growth in the league.

Which brings us to now. Jedrick Wills is in his third year as a pro and the team and fans alike have big expectations for him. He had a sub par performance against the Panthers the first week of the season, one where he ranked towards the very bottom of the league of Offensive Tackles via PFF. Jedrick must refocus and be better this weekend against the Jets to show the fans, coaches and teammates that he is the guy they drafted at number 10 back in 2020. He certainly has all the potential, he has to go out there and do it!

We also touch on the performance of Jacoby Brissett. Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland dot com wrote an article suggesting that Jacoby must have a better performance against an aggressive Jets defense. While Mary Kay isn't wrong, I do think it's a big early to start discussing a QB controversy.

I agree on Greedy though u sneeze on the dude and hes hurt. JOK and Newsome were the best picks of the Berry Era. To much reliance on Analytics and not enough on football common sense.

I'm a die-hard browns fan and I do believe this is our year I do believe we have The playmakers we have two phenomenal backup quarterbacks don't even want to get started on a running backs I literally would say Nick Chubb is the next Jim Brown and I don't even want to say that because he's in his own lane He is part of his own category 🤷🏼‍♂️ as long as we can stay healthy not get cocky and have tons of turnovers and play Cleveland smash mouth ball down field run game hit the defense right in their chops then there is a playoff spot for us!!! I think Wills is either 1) playing injury worried or 2) loosing confidence at LT* probably why coach said what he did* . I agree, it is a HUGE change going from left to right or vice versa as it is, so not only are you going up a level but also switching sides: i believe with his status doesn't due him justice on how good he actually is, and can be. Either more time at LT will show his abilities (2 more years) or just immediately putting him back at RT. I also think with JB, yeah made a couple errors in a passing but they are correctable, (like pass to Hunt and Cooper) but these game are going to be nail biters regardless as should be expected this season. I am sure we will not have any blowout Wins or Losses (depending on Coach Wood's 2nd half adjustments).

I don't think Wills is a bust, he was a right tackle in college ,and if the Browns needed a left tackle they had plenty chances in that draft to take one instead of trying to make a right tackle into a left one. But he's the best we have for now and I hope he he can get it done.

Is there that much of a difference playing RT for a left handed QB vs playing LT for a right handed QB?

No as far as qb protections it’s be the same the difference is in the way the position is played it’s self. Your technique where your body weight is shifted using your right or left hand more often for depth and strength. Footwork it’s a mental thing more than anything. That’s why swing tackles are gems but never really “Elite” to be an elite tackle is best to lock in at the one side so u can master your craft instead of constantly having to re wire your mindset as it becomes muscles memory
