I actually don't think he is going to die. Trigger/Gainax loves subverting genres and all thier anime are defying the standard as well. Ichigo was the 2nd person to acknowledge ZT. Do you remember when Goro risked his life for Ichigo against her wishes? Each member of The Childhood Friend Trinity has done unnecessary self sacrifice for someone they love. Ichigo let Hiro go with ZT despite knowing she was dangerous just before his 3rd ride. Then, Ichigo asked ZT to take care of Hiro, & like ep14, ZT said she can do anything she wants with Hiro. Even up to ep14, ZT pretended not to care about the team when Ichigo opened up to her, that's what really pissed off Ichigo. It just seems like people like you don't remember anything before ep13 & don't understand Nuance. ZT even admitted again that she used Hiro as fodder.

It was the cutest thing ever when Hiro smiled after Zero Two said she loved him. You could really just how much both of them were overflowing with happiness because of the other ones presence. Hiro and Zero two will probably go down as my favorite couple in any of the anime series I've watched tbh. Overall this episode truly surpassed all expectations I could have even dreamed of for this series. This year has been one of the best in the last decade when it comes to quality anime, for real.

Think about how Trigger (even prior to the formation of Studio Trigger) usually does things, they tend to officially finish the first core of a show around episode 15 and wrap up the major character arcs before introducing the big-bad in earnest. Another thing to note is that the scale of the conflict tends to be very grandiose, see Gurren Lagann or Kill la Kill as an example of that. Another thing that Trigger and friends tend to do around episode 15 or 16 is reveal that those you thought were the baddies are actually fighting something much bigger and far worse, and maybe aren't so big and bad after all, relatively speaking. Now that we've seen the big sequence in which the OP track plays over an epic triumph, the day is won but the larger issue is presented, I expect that the second core of Darling in the FranXX will truly begin next week, complete with a fresh OP and all that jazz. Though I do love the current one personally. PS: The Ichigo thing, as I said last week would have been completely avoided had viewers had the luxury of watching both episode 14 and 15 back to back. All of the hate came largely from idle hands and impatience - not understanding that these character flaws are being introduced in order to be resolved. I think the series of events, taken on the whole were actually really well done, even if the first half of the arc left a lot to be desire. Welcome to weekly anime.

What a fucking phenomenal episode 10/10. The symbolism of 02 literally trying to pick up the pieces was heartwrenching along with the flashback aswell. She is truly precious and must be proteccted at all times! Godtier waifu no-one comes close at this point. Having ep. 14 go how it did leading into this was a fucking great move narratively and I knew it would pay off when Hiro and 02 reunited and boy did it ever. For the ones who sent death threats to the writers last week had ought to feel ashamed of themselves. This series is fucking golden man. Goro the real MVP yet again. Ichigo redeemed herself slightly (still a thot tho lol) Anyway still have so many questions and theories looking onwards but for now I need to let my brain cool down.

I have a feeling that the magma APE uses is actually the lifeblood of the "Klaxasuar Mother", or rather her Yellow Blood Cells. And the Klaxasaurs we see might be sort of mecha, maybe that's what the Franxx are based off of. The Cores are also similar to the Franxx pilot pods in shape.
