Every gamer gets to the place it seems you're at. I know I did. My collection took over an entire room. I heard people describe it as collecting old plastic. That struck me. Just in the past 2 months I went through everything and kept only the games I had to have. I did sell off some grails like rule of rose because I only had it because it was valuable. The truth is I got rid of about 1/3 of my games. Guess what, I have no regrets. Plus I made a ton of money. All of us know you end up with more than you can play in a lifetime. Also, I still have the games that mean the most to me. Lastly, it frees up space in your house. Great video again. Bravo!

I started out as a "collector" of just a few games here and there.....but then somehow end up owning 10 Pokemon Emerald, 15 Pokemon Sapphire, 12 Pokemon Ruby, 4 SOTN, 15 GBA SP, 15 GBA, 5 Switch, 4 PS1, 2 Sega Saturn, 1 NeoGeo Gold, etc etc etc. Now I'm not sure what to do with it once I move...

I relate to your videos quite a bit as my girlfriend and I thrift and go to yard sales together almost every weekend. At first she didnt understand why I get so exited about these things, but over the years she has seen the return financially and understands the value of my personal collection. She’s also gotten better at knowing what to look for so she adds that much needed extra set of eyes. We have a similar system where we use a shared savings account that is only funded by reselling. It’s a win win because I still get to add items to my collection for free while we watch the savings grow quickly from moving what we don’t want and need. About 90% of my collection unfortunately sits in storage due to space but it’s great to periodically look up a few of my higher dollar items and get exited at how much they have gone up in value over time. Thanks for the video, great content as always!

I feel like I'm leaning towards hoarder, but in the same extent I think when the time comes that I have the designated room for the Game Room/Man Cave, it will be worth it, since I can show off the way I would want to. Even your overflow/reserve spot (lack of a better term for it) is incredible. I always enjoy seeing the variety of content from channels, and it nice to just have a little look through stuff and talk, even compared to game hunting video - which I love, but I truly just enjoy seeing the love of this wonderful hobby being showcased in every aspect. Thank you for a little stroll through the normally unseen stuff, and another great video. Hope you both are doing well, and have a wonderful day/weekend. #Roadto4k

What would happen to our collections when we die? Some possible scenarios 1) Your widow or kids will sell everything for way less than price charting estimates 2) Widow will not want to deal with the selling of such massive amount of games and dumps them all at Goodwill, whispers finally this junk is out of the house . 3) if you don't have any loved ones then the state will take over and sells everything at the first $50 bidder. 4) You get old lonely cuckoo and die of a heart attack while playing Suikoden 3 and months later your neighbor finds you by the stench informs the authority of your dead after he clears out of games your garage. Any more scenarios? Please leave yours 😂

This was exactly why I sold off my entire Wii collection, so I wouldn’t end up feeling this way with all the crappy shovelware I owned from finding them out in retail stores back in the day. Now the reseller who bought them has to worry about selling each and every one, many told me as-is they were interested only in a few particular titles which I left there purposefully so there’d be interest. Same reason I included it with a spare console I had on hand, too

I'm proud of my modest collection but its mostly PS3-5 and Switch. I get the latest version of older games (HD collections or remasters) and sell original. I don't buy sealed games to keep sealed, solely for resale, or used games that dont have cover art. This keeps everything looking great on the shelf and limits the space it takes up. My 1/4 scale statues are another story lol.

Personally I only collect games I intend to beat and buy Custom Game Cases for everything to avoid paying the outrageous prices for CIB while keeping the shelf nice and uniform. I ended my collecting goal at 253 games, possibly may add more PS1 in the future but other than that and finishing up my list of higher priced titles, I'm finished. Everything else I can play through flashcarts or ODEs like hacks and translations so I'm pretty much set for life. One thing I had fun with was making repro carts for games like Trials of Mana, Starfox 2, Pokemon Unbound, Ocarina of Time Master Quest, etc. I appreciate those who collect full sets and/or thousands of games but that's just not for me is all.

That's an awesome idea. I just got into buying games for xbox cuz I didn't grow up with xbox or playstation. I've been focusing on remasters & compilation of games on newer hardware like Mass Effect Legendary edition, Bioshock collection, Crash bandicoot insane trilogy ^ Mainly to cut down on storage My childhood collection between ages 6-18 grew to almost 50 games - 95% of them were bangers. Held onto them until I was 25 before I started selling them off to build a switch collection. My collection 95% bangers for gbc, gba, ds, gamecube, & wii games. Now I'm 30 & between 2023-now I accumulated 100 something games for Xbox series x Switch 3ds I went from 10 games on steam - 50 something now. I've never had a backlog before. So now I'm worried I may never play these games. I'm trying to slow down, but watching physical games disappearing from brick & mortar stores has given me fomo.

Foe the sealed game to be considered for grading (in my opion) is 1st check how tight the seal in on the game if it's like loose around probably not the best to send in, 2nd make sure the folds were tampered with, really easy to notice if someone used glue at one point, 3rd also looks at the case art itself. That comes into play as well. Make sure it's not offset (it's the same with pokemon cards) 4th any residue on the seal itself stickers, ect. The last a lot of people miss over is check if there is scratches on the cellophane. Highly scratch drops the grade dramatically. Weather or not people like to grade games. It's your games do what ever you want with them lol. I graded a few games for my PC collection because I like they way they look in the plastic cases and give another layer of protection. But with me grading games I only grade the ones I want to keep for a long long time like my favorite series. But I have bought and resold one to make some decent peoft which is nice lol

Very much appreciate the hustle here. However, as someone who cleared out/sold all their "speculative" games I was hoarding during the price surge with the pandemic, it wasn't worth it from an investment standpoint. There are numerous better vehicles to park capital in than speculating on a potential game multiplying in value over a few years. But again, love the hustle and great collection.

Well you are a bit of a hoarder, but for me, a big reason for owning physical games is "Ownership". Nobody will barge into my house and take my physical copies away, nor erase any "expired" licensed music. This is also why on PC, I use mainly GOG and ZOOM-Platform.

The majority of people that sold valuable games bought them because they wanted them not because they planned to sell them. You have no idea what games are going to be valuable in the future. Buying as an investment I think is a mistake

It's sad to see hoarding like this, or speculative purchases like these. It's no more about games, about gaming, about the hobby -- it is about price-rices, investments, scarcity, rarity... Do you love games or is it a fetishism to plastic boxes and to an aura of "exclusivity" created within particular social group? My prediction is that I'll see you in a few years in a video where you will be selling the whole of your collection (of plastic and your memories) because you'll eventually come into a realization that this addiction can't go on.
@JRPGLife2 жыл бұрын
I would agree with you if any of these purchases were made by themselves. Every single game in this section of our home came as part of a larger/bulk purchase in which we kept other parts of it for our collection. But I get it, it's definitely not for everyone 😊
