I agree with Sal on canceling some books, I feel like X-men is starting to get more and more messy, it’s time to clean it up a little bit. Have a mini series if you want to keep telling stories but it’s too much on the consumers wallet

I really like X-Men Red, Immortal X-Men and Legion of X, those are amazing. I think that Duggan's X-Men and Wolverine are solid too. Also I don't get Benny's complain about X-Men being cyclical, I mean these is something the Big 2 comics are in general, but I think that X-Men are way better at changing their status quo and having long lasting effects than everyone else, I mean just look at the Scott and Emma relationship, that was a huge change and no other mainstream, Big 2, comic has done such a radical change to established characters, the only other thing that comes to mind is Superman and Wonder Woman in the New 52 but that didn't last, Emma and Scott was a change that lasted for over a decade and even now in the Krakoa era they seem very close, same with the Decimation and House of M, or the Schism and Utopia, not to mention AvX, and even if people didn't like it, the whole Inhumans stuff was still a new and distinct story from everything that came before it, that's what I'm saying, the X-Men franchise is the least cyclical franchise at the Big 2. From Morrison to Whedon, from Mike Carey to Hickman, and even Bendis, all of them have added new elements to the franchise that have lasted longer than most new stuff does in other books, and that's without touching the non-X-Men books, like Remender's Uncanny X-Fore, or Tom Taylor's Wolverine run, or Peter David's X-Factor book, Zeb Wells' New Mutants. And don't even get me started on the whole Cosmic stuff with Emperor Vulcan and the War of Kings. In conclusion the X-Men have been the least cyclical comic at the Big 2, at least that's how I see it based on what I've read.

@@yourkingreturns I don’t think they took power away from him. I honestly think this was always the play. That’s why they had great writers like Ewing and Gillan come into the fold later to eventually fill the void for when Hickman left. I think this era may last for a decade plus and there’s no way Hickman was sticking around that long. Gillian is just now getting around to delivering on some of the promises Hickman made during HOX/POX.

Honestly I think these are the same people that hated that “the X-men betrayed everything about Xavier’s dream”. I can’t take it seriously

Moira from Hox/PoX wanted to cure mutants which was completely forgotten by everyone so it being rushed in Inferno seemed out of character. However, it was completely in character with the original set up and just wasn’t mentioned enough with the through line.

That all made sense. What REALLY didn't was Moira turning on mutants because Mystique, Destiny, and Emma did. Moira took that to mean that ALL OF MUTANTDOM had betrayed her and hated her when really, it was three (admittedly politically powerful) mutants. Inferno 2.0 was superlative before it got to that conclusion.

My problem with Xmen is that there’s way too many books that you have to read everything to understand. It starts to feel like Homework.. Also I hate the way other heroes are written in Xbooks. They’re always written like jackboot authoritarians at worst and idiots at best.

The Krakoa era simply needs to end. It started off well at first and frankly got bad where Hickman is to blame. The pacing of the X-Men comic itself under Hickman after issue 7 was frankly poor. People didn’t acknowledge the bad pacing though.

@@adamcrawford6060 I didn’t bring up the rest of Marvel and DC where there’s not much worth reading at this time. The X-Men comics are also included in that where really other than Nightwing and Daredevil, the rest could be skipped for the most part. The Krakoa era made the X-Men relevant again, but then dragged after issue 7 of the actual series by Hickman. A better era was when we had Wolverine and the X-Men and Uncanny X-Force with Remender. Just get off Krakoa, bring back Evan who was inexplicably killed in an event no one read, fix Beast, and let’s move on.

I know that it's creatively stifling to tell a bunch of writers "Hey, this one guy's plan is the direction we're going into, so you have to be on board. Especially if it's a good idea". But Dan kinda hit the nail on the head when he mentioned how some of these writers have too much freedom. It's like if your parents left and you decided to have ice cream for every meal. Yes, you're free. But that is not sustainable. Plus, this is the second time when I've been invested in a big initiative in a comic book series that just fizzled out because the head-honcho left midway and everyone went in their own, crazy direction.

I mean for the Hickman Era, it’s HoX/PoX->X-Men->X of Swords->rest of Hickman X-Men->Hellfire Gala->Inferno Everything else is optional and really only matters if you want to investigate the other series

The Mackie years were rough indeed, I go back and reread Danny Ketch Ghost Rider, a beloved book from my childhood and .. yikes. Ben percy spread himself out too thin. that's why X-force and ghost rider have been meh,. he's focused on wolverine.

While I'm sad that Hickman's plan fell apart, there are still some great stuff coming out of the x-books. Some of it has gotten a little messy/ unnecessary, but there are several strong books. Immortal, Red, legion, and the base X-Men book are still really cool. Also Percy's wolverine/ xforce is essentially one series and it's pretty good

Kill the X-Men and reboot them in a year or two. Kill some, let some leave the team, get rid of krakoa, call it death of the X-Men. Have a year or two off of X-Men, with a few select mutants going to other titles, while the original X-Men team are on some crazy adventure to fix things

I liked what Hickman started, but after X of Swords I was really turned me off. The Hellfire Galas are fashion shows and most of them are wordy and boring. Also, having Nightcrawler make a new religion, being a catholic, was just wrong. Also, Logan is Wolverine and Laura is X-23. There are no other Wolverines.

Sal's take is a interesting one as someone more divorced than say, someone invested in Immortal or XM Red. I think those fans are just happy there's some quality in the line after they were literally killing time before hickman left, but someone like Sal isn't as invested sees it as too much bloat and not enough progress. He's not wrong on some of it tho, there's a glut that caters to every kind of fan, but there needs to be some justification on why so many of the books exist

They tanked all the intrigue with this new direction. Now Moira is more of an annoyance than the interesting character that she became at the start of house of X

Thanks to my friends and my girlfriend I got my chance to read xmen comic. Like I've always wanted to because I've grew up watching the cartoons and movies and the appearances in my marvel comics I've read but due to so many titles and the krakoa thing I didn't know where to start but if anything I learned just find characters that I would like and for me I'm still liking deadpool but that was the only one I have still readed. But then for me wolverine and the wolverine family was the ones I really collect the most of now like logan, laura daken, and gabby that I would love to thank my girlfriend for and then long-shot, angel, and legion are my go to one's I read now but for me yeah it's hard to get into the current run now but as long as you find it at the right moment you be able to just jump in the comics with no problem but story wise now 2022 run is slowly picking up but overall there are few good moments not going to spoil them but the main line xmen comic is again slowly picking up. But the other x team books are doing well

I think 'New Mutants' been cancelled already. Or it's on hiatus. 'X-Force' and 'Wolverine' should be condensed into a singular title since they're almost interchangeable at times. 'Marauders' has to go. Or at least be rebooted with a new creative team. The 3 main X-Men titles are all great though.

I used to be a X-men collector and until very recently I had every X-book in some format going back to 1963. In my opinion the Krakoan era is by some distance, the worst X-men era of all time- worse than Chuck Austen , Peter Milligan, Age of X-Man or even dino Rachel. I have no problem with anyone trying something new as that is normally X-men at their best- Age of Apocalypse, New X-men and of course Giant Size. But the Krakoan X-men are the antithesis of what they represent- segregation, racial superiority, collective race blame, condoning atrocities committed by your own race, economic dominance/inequality, dehumanising your opponents and condoning murder are all glorified. X-men used to represent the highest ideals of selfless heroism as they protected even those who hated them. I have no interest in the inane non-adventuers of these irredeemable and soulless plant clones. Characterisation has been appalling with Kitty Pryde getting visible tattoos and Wolverine competing in a dance off being the worst examples. This is subpar tumbler activist non-fan fiction.
