If you are born again you reflect God's glory in your life because you possess the Holy Spirit inside you. If you are a "follower" you are trying to imitate God in your sinful nature. Power less without the Holy Spirit. Impossible. Having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof.

You use a secular definition of Christian to say Christians are not of Christ, but only followers of Jesus are Christians? Nonsense. True believers are Christians. John1:9-13 9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God- 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. Are you born of God? Have you become a child of God? You don't need to follow, you need to be what you are (son or daughter of God) and obey God as an adopted child of God. Following is works. Faith is salvation and adoption into God's family. You must be born again to see the kingdom of God. Not works of "following." No one is saved by works. When do you know you have done enough by works to save your soul? How many people really follow Jesus whether they are wealthy or not? How many sell all their possession and give it to the poor? Not many and likely not even one or two people in America. Matthew 19:16-22 16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” 17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” 18 “Which ones?” he inquired. Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,’[c] and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’[d]” 20 “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?” 21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. You must have new birth to receive the Holy Spirit or do you receive it from following Jesus? If you do not have the Holy Spirit, you are not a son or daughter of God. Romans 8:9-11 9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life[d] because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of[e] his Spirit who lives in you. Ephesians 1:11-14 11 In him we were also chosen,[e] having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession-to the praise of his glory.
