well I think the song gives the scene a groovy feeling, typical from dreams, that fits really well... also it is a very good song with amazing references, like when they sing it in Blue Velvet... I think it's been chosen for a reason and I do like it. You guys should try to open your mind a bit

i agree that the feeling of the brunt of injustice or personal pain can be felt across every sociological and economic spectrum. And I agree that the action taken to negate and overcome such hardships is the most important aspect. looking back on my comment, I realize (shamefully) how ignorant and narrow-minded it was. Everyone, in some way shape and form, has the potential to fix their position in life. The true tragedy is that I fear few will realize their potential.

@muzik313 hallucination is a tricky word just because it happens in your mind and other people around you cant see it, doesnt mean your not there or that it is not real. Your brain is a very powerfull thing, but the universe or consiousness if you will which created it is even more powerfull and bizzare to our concepts. You cant see the 4th dimention but it doesnt mean it doesnt exist or that we dont exist within it or that other things may not exist in a wakeing state there even.
@GusCraigengower11 жыл бұрын
to me, this is the most substantial scene in waking life. It's the film's most blatant *possible* nod to the idea of 'shared dreaming' or of a (or more) commonly shared dream plane(s). theoretically, the character who asks 'are you a dreamer' can either be: 1) a 'dream character' manifestation of the main character's conscience; or 2) a dreamer who crossed main char's dreampath. the fading of the main char's dream body offers a rather subtle suggestion- who's the 'character' in whose dream?

I'll agree with this notion as part of a sense of security. It happened in a few cultures previous...if you were hurt and could not hunt or bring in your own harvest your 'people' would pitch in until. you were well enough. But I don't think anyone should have the right to live off the labour of others......

@muzik313 Just like quite alot of people say, it may be that the human brain works just like a radio which is tuned in to a certain station....even though other stations are flowing all around it.....while tuned to a certain frequency it can only pick up that frequency. So the reality we see therough our senses is just the reality we are tuned into.

I believe that 'intelligent technological species' have a great and specific "ecological purpose" and that "ecological purpose" is the preservation of the biosphere and its habitat, when the native planet and star are no longer able to do so. I believe that this function will come to be viewed as our work. I believe that most humans will quite willingly contribute some small portions of their time to maintain the system with the rest of their time dedicated to anything they might choose to do.

Im certain you mean Never Ending Journeys, You can be interconnected, but to achieve singularity you must endveaor 'experience', eons of past times. A dreamer has to understand the human condition, 'ITS' own condition, To recoginze that this 'shell' is a 'interface', capacity to no restriction only limited by miscomphrension and fear of growth. What is 'unknown' is first 'cause' to 'disattachment' from maintaining 'balance'= peace. Namaste.

Also, the film could have been portraying the dreamer character as how we perceive him, when in his dream reality he could be something completely different, with different experiences than what we see. What would make an AMAZING sequel to this is if they had it be something like a totally different movie, but we then find out that it's this exact same sequence just from a different perception of the main character's. Talk about mind-screw!

This scene is very true. Society just keeps getting faster and faster. Why can't people take the time to just slow down, seriously, everybody's losing sleep. And as everybody's losing sleep their dreams at night are becoming bland and less vivid. As that happens people are losing their ability to even remember what they dreamed about. What's the point of even dreaming if you're not gonna remember it? What's the point of sleeping if you're not gonna dream? People are too stressed these days.

I think that every intelligent and sensible guy suffer too, in a certain way. I agree with you when you say that people have less chance than other people (you meant that don't you?) But don't forget that certain people, even if they are wealthier, or luckier or whatever, can feel injustice and try to make, with their own possibilities, the world a better place. In fact the important thing is ACTION, I don't know if you got me! Carlos from Belgium

How about a future where no one ever again has to live trapped inside a body? Where we can exist collaboratively as one unity of self sustaining consciousness. Even if everyone has a stable job and money and no war we will still be plagued by evil and misery, it is inevitable as long as we are trapped here.

"What is so different between the 'intelligent' self-conscious dreamer and the monotonous dead 'manifestation' of conscious?" There is no difference, the intelligent self-conscious dreamer is manifested and for the monotonous manifestation to exist, it must not be 'dead' in that sense because it would cease to exist and be nothing rather than a monotonous manifestation. Intelligent is also only one of many types of dreamer, so in a sense a dreamer who is only intelligent is also monotonous.

but the bigger question that this scene in this film (and the whole film in general) invokes is.... what's the difference between a 'dream character' and us? if our dream feet in our dream shoes & our dream body is but a caricature of ourselves, then what is so different between the 'intelligent' self-conscious dreamer & the monotonous dead 'manifestation of [whose?] conscience'?

Things might get very strange in this conversation: I believe that "consciousness" did not always exist in the universe but, at some point in infinite time, 'happened' quite by chance and commenced its own 'evolution'...learning over time what IT liked or did not like, what was 'good' and what was 'evil'. Once it experienced "Love", there was no stopping IT. Perhaps IT feels some guilt for not being able to stop all the misery and suffering sooner. Is a brutalised child "bad"?

Destruction of religion would also really help in removing war and making everybody equal. People would start to actually give a shit about other people for good reasons. We could have communities of people who do good shit for an hour a couple times a week instead of communities of people who sing to God for an hour a couple times a week. Without religion, people would understand an importance of continuing the humans instead of hoping for Armageddon.
