Great review and echoes my own experience with Sola frames… In fact I have been skating these on a ledge recently and its slightly rounded so quite tricky to work with. I could soul all the way around it, but when I tried my New Nils with the stock frame I couldn't soul on it due to the differences in sidewall thickness. The final point Harry made is spot on. For me these frames just make rolling around such an amazing experience!

Nice review. Although I'm wondering why for your unwaxed test you didn't do a groove trick (at least a frontside), kind of defeats the purpose of seeing if the METAL slides without wax when you choose a grind that's mainly on PLASTIC...

The H-block on the Sola frames is plastic, so that really WOULD defeat the point! :-) Harry does talk about the fact that the makio grind is on mixed materials in the video. It's a good observation nonetheless.

@@LocoSkates Aahhh, he's riding the PLASTIC H blocks. You guys should throw a set of the aluminum blocks on to really put em to the test. No wonder he said they don't feel a lot different than plastic frames on the grinds. I'd love to hear how THOSE do on curbs.

So torque your foot over harder or farther (bend leg at ankle and foot more parallel to the ground) on groove tricks like farvs, royales, backslides and what not is what youre saying?

metal on metal is super fast but metal on concrete sucks. Skateboarders have metal trucks, not because they slide well on concrete but because they need the strength of a metal truck. there are plenty of truck designs that have tried to incorporate plastic so skateboarders can slide better on ledges. The push in inline to metal is only good for parks. There is a reason that inline skaters can slide ledges like 50ft long with plastic frames and skateboarders only slide 12 inches on ledges.

Why don't we have aluminum soul plates?
@danatello84895 жыл бұрын
Good question. At least just some thin aluminum plates (like old grind plate thickness) to mount on bottom of the soul plates.

That's a great idea.

Many many years ago I had one of the first pairs of deshi skates and the soles ripped off as they were only bolted to the boots cardboard bottom 🤦🏻♂️. Anyway I made a metal insoul. And while I was at it made some metal sole kits and they were amazing in Park's

Shouldn’t you have done a torque for a test instead of a makio since it’s a frame test?
@LocoSkates5 жыл бұрын
A torque would also have been in contact with the soulplate

****skaters use tons of wax for street riding (b/c metal trucks) they dont like wax in the park because its already plenty slick

hahah. pretty soon we gonna have 4130 cromoly frames like the bmx bike frames and pegs.
