There are two kinds of people responsible for the extinction of cultural diversity - ones who give up their culture consciously/subconsciously and others who expect people to assimilate into their culture.
This talk hopes to educate the listener about their unaware role in this global issue and propel them into positive action that preserves cultural diversity. Deepti Vijaykumar is a change-maker, thought leader, mind coach and professional speaker. She is passionate about diversity and inclusion, not only as a right thing to do but as a path towards personal and collective excellence. She believes in the power of good leaders and works with them to impact corporate and societal change.She is eclectic, disruptive and unstoppable! This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Your Indian customs, which I respect belong within your home. It is your duty to assimilate into the country that you have chosen to immigrate into.

@@TheChippewa77 This is why I encourage folks to learn indigenous languages but unfortunately it seems like most people do not like assimilating into new lands. Seeing people's behaviour I can only feel like it is only right that I speak my own mothertongue or some indigenous language instead of English in public, whenever possible. Cherokee and many Algonquin languages are quite great and have writing systems I enjoy more than the English one.

Assimilating into the American culture IS the point!!!!!
@sujaireddy4311

I once lived in a place that had lots of klansmen. I could have "assimilated" by wearing a pointy white hood and marching with guns. Now I live in a place with a number of Communist Party members, so I could also "assimilate" by joining CPUSA. Both are a part of America and part of American culture. Asking people to assimilate is too vague. I just go to work and come back like everyone else. Why should I have to conform to someone else's standard when this is a society based on individualism.

This is not so funny. Why act like it is wrong to go to some foreign country and understand new things and understand how advanced industries are functioning there.

@@sujaireddy4311 lol. Even though indians claim that 'india is the best country, 'sanatan culture is the best , and shits like that on social media, still millions of indians are leaving india for west every year for better life quality, less pollution, safety etc. India too have advanced technology and industries as india is the 3rd largest economy. In fact the salary of most western countries are lower than india after heavy taxes and all. Still most indians from poor unskilled labours to smart indians like IITians, iim graduates etc dream of a life in the West. How do you explain that? Everybody can claim india is the best country and all while living abroad but they never want to return to india and live here.
