A big thing that makes a difference is that if you dont get full 65w (63 ect actual) the device does not charge and the battery drains regardless if its plugged in.
@whosgotrythm Жыл бұрын
There is a protocol between the charging brick and the rog ally that determines how much watts is pushed to the ally. That’s why the you were seeing the same wattage between the anker and asus bricks.
@andygomes9656 Жыл бұрын
You see both amount of chargers deliver around the same watt because its PD. This means that the ally only uses the watt it requires. So basically it takes instead of giving x amount of watt that is stated on the brick. Dont get me wrong its getting that 100w but it only takes what it needs and most of you fail to understand or don’t know how to read the multimeter. Note that if it cannot take what it wants, it will take in what it can take and that’s basically happening with the docking stations while using the official charger that comes with the ally.

a lot of people have said that you have to have a 100w charger for it to give you 30w base turbo. I have one on order but I’ve tried a Lenovo 65w, a 90w, and 3 different docks with the original charger and they all do the same thing, they don’t get more than the 25w base for longer than the 2 minutes sppt.

Great video! I have the jsaux dock and I’m getting full boost. My main gripe is when connected to my 175 hz 3440x1440 monitor I am capped at 60 hz. When I plug my ally directly to my monitor via type-c display port with 65w with PD, it can run smoothly at 175hz. Granted games could never play that high with the built in CPU/GPU, it would still be nice to have it run smooth for normal computing use.

Hopefully it gets handled. Im loving the Ally with all its glitches and problems, but ASUS has already drioppes ball with support. Radio silence directly after a product launch due to vacations and holidays isnt a valid excuse, its called on call, and best believe if something new dropped, while some vacations may be granted, what company goes completley silent with no support because everyone's off? @@alexandrosr5179 for the 6850M XT I did more testing yesterday. I would say it's more meant for 1440p gaming vs 4K. I had the same GPU in one of my prior labtop and I remembered it performing a lot better tho. There might be some sort of bottlenecking issue or so but I'm not 100% sure. I'm running into a lot of low system memory prompts while playing FH5. I guess 12GB isn't enough for my Ultra and Extreme settings? On my prior labtop I was able to run Extreme settings and got around 70-80fps. With the XGM 6850M XT I'm getting around 60fps instead. Both were running at 1600p 21:9 @ 144Hz. I don't remember seeing any low system memory prompts as well on the labtop. At the end I might need something with at least 16GB for my needs. I'm not sure if I will be keeping this as I'm about to do a 4090 build soon. If I get another XGM then it will probably be that 4090m one when it goes on sale or is cheaper. I wish the Ally had 32GB of RAM as well or was upgradable. Hopefully the next one does I guess.
@volcalstone Жыл бұрын
@@alexandrosr5179 I forgot that you asked for tips. 😁 The design of the exhaust is weird. I wish it shot upwards instead so placement is key. Try having the heat away from you if possible. Remember tho that it wasn't made for the Ally in mind vs their tablet so placement could be awkward at times as it's connecting from the top. Never unplug the XG mobile while it's in sleep mode or shut off. If you want to take the Ally with you then you need to start it up to only safely remove it using the procedures in Armoury Crate. Make sure you enabled VRR as this could do it over HDMI in addition to DP as well. Playing it in handheld mode isn't ideal and I haven't tried it yet as the cable is too short. ☺️
