My parents and I came to the US as dirt poor chinese students. We used to live in the ghetto, but all of the STRIP mentioned are things we Asian Americans do already and more. So when my parented finished their grad school, retired as multimillionaires after working 25 years. They beat me to the millionaires status, but their teaching means I'm on track to out do them in total. Together, we built generational wealth despite being born and came to America dirt poor.

It’s a Lot of hard work and dedication and it’s possible. It’s great your family had a plan and knew what to do, particularly accomplishing grad school. The Awareness is Key. More people dirt poor need to be aware of the possibility as well as being aware of and education in every single step to get there. 💪🏾

Great story, but keep in mind that for every success story out there, there are families who have tried their best and due to bad choices (hindsight 20/20), are not as wealthy/ have struggled. I know people who have immigrated and circumstances beyond their control meant they couldn't earn the way they'd intended. Financial compassion is key.

Saving in an FDIC high yield savings account is poor use of your money when you can invest in a federally income tax free Municipal Bond fund & get higher yield. 3 to 6 months of expenses? When were you ever out of a job & income for 6 months? Roth IRA contributions can be withdrawn without tax or penalties at any time. Why not invest those contributions in a steady performing growth income fund to earn higher growth & use those contributions as your emergency fund?

So like do I just walk into a bank and ask for rich ppl accounts?
@DorothySargeant-u3l2 күн бұрын
LAST EDIT: Kim please read. Short answer: yes with a twist. You should ask for the items mentioned in the clip by the names Vivian calls/types them. Otherwise sit at a table (not stand with teller) and explain you want to learn more on how you can increase your wealth, retirement with the bank. A high yield savings account is like a regular account, but they offer better interest rates than the regular accounts. For example, last or maybe it was earlier this year it was not that difficult to get 5% bonus with the high yield accounts. Meanwhile the regular accounts offered 1/3 of 1%. If you had $100 in a high yield account, you would have been gifted $5 versus 33 cents in regular account. Many banks offer both accounts, so you have to ask what are the rates for the high yield accounts and ask for terms. These accounts interest rates change based on the fed and how the banks feel the market will behave. I had a bank offer both, but they did not automatically assign me high yield. You have to ask. You can also do an internet search to get an idea of what's available where. High yield accounts are NOT CDs. I mention asking for terms to make sure you are getting what you want and goes with personality. The high yield accounts allow you to take out money at any time without penalty.
@SaintsandSushi2 күн бұрын
There is no such thing as a rich people's account. She is talking about regular accounts everyone can open on their own. Everything is online, so you must be 80 years old if you have set foot in an actual bank.
