Great video. I used to be the "big guy" 345 lbs. I started my journey to loose weight and got down to 265. Put it all back on due to taking a break to coach youth sports. Then I had gastric on 12/31/20 and started the year as a new me. The cardio that comes with training has been so helpful to help get me to my goal weight soo much faster. 190 is what I'm aiming for and at 215 right now. So happy I discovered jiu jitsu. The wife is happier now to wink wink.

I was super skinny when I started. The difference in how my chest, abs and arms look compared to when I started is huge. I still don't have BIG muscles (and I don't really care about getting them) but BJJ training has definitely made me feel a lot more confident with my shirt off!

I'm a big guy with a large frame ie muscular, tall, wide shoulders, etc. But I was definitely carrying a ton of extra weight. I was at 264. In 3 months I have dropped to 230. I'm training on average 3 times a week. At my gym we roll for at least 30 mins. My diet has been super clean which is the main factor. BJJ will definitely build muscle and burn a ton of calories but without a good diet it's all for nothing

When I started I was 225lbs (5'8"). And lost about 20lbs after a couple months because I came from a completely sedentary lifestyle. But I lost about 6 inches on my waist.

That is awesome! I've had several students lose close to 100lbs making BJJ their main physical activity.

Hi, great video! Don’t really know how I ended up here! I’m 5’9 and have been training for almost 2 months now, I started at 84kg. I’m now sitting at 76kg as of typing this comment. I wanted to start jiu jitsu to up my cardio initially whilst weight training for muscle growth alongside, this didn’t really happen and so I’ve managed to lose 8kg purely from jiu jitsu (3-4 days a week). My aim is to keep burning fat and start to gain muscle by adding in some resistance training throughout the week and eating clean.

I was 98kg and I wanted to lose weight and I hated weight lifting because it was boring. Fast forward 7 years, now I fluctuate between 75-78kg. The leanest I have been was around 71kg and have seen my four packs and was on the way to see my last two abs if I kept going but injury and the pandemic happened, now I am starting back at 79kg. I lost all of this weight because of BJJ and a good clean diet. A good diet isn't optional, it is mandatory. Coupled that with BJJ, you can see miracles! All I can say is you don't know how good looking you are until you have reached the 12% body fat mark. Even though I DID NOT achieve the 12%, I was around at 16% body fat, my life was so much better and had a lot of compliments. In summary, couple BJJ with a clean diet along with good sleeping patterns, you will notice a tremendous amount of change. If you ever see a fat higher belt , that is because they have not taken care of their diet.

I'm 5ft 8 and 200 now but was leaner in my profile pic. I even thought about doing a natural bodybuilding show but Got tired of it and found my old coach. Literally opened a school next to planet fitness and I wandered in . I do bjj and boxing and lift. But I did go off diet last 6 months since starting bjj again. So no abs but i feel stronger and fitter but I'm back to cutting diet again. Im too short to be 200 in competitions. So I imagine it will fall off quick cause after 11 months of bodybuilding dieting I only did light cardio toward the end. I'm sure I'll have to tweak the diet to make sure I have enough fuel to roll hard versus just looking good.

I feel like if ur naturally inclined to build muscle, straight mesomorph , BJJ will deff help build muscle. U would probs get a physique like GSP, probly not look like a pro bodybuilder
