The best way I would recommend anyone to learn and memorize the Quran is using the Suba' method. This method is basically getting into a group of two or more and taking a turn each reading a verse without looking at the Kitab.

I STRONGLY DISAGREE to the statement that he said one CAN NEVER MEMORIZE QURAN alone. Alhamdulillah, I have memorized nearly 6 zuz without going to any shiekh. WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT in memorzing QURAN IS YOUR PURE INTENSION. Because IT IS ALLAH who helps us memorize. If Allah helps, then none can prevent one from memorizing quran. It may be great to have a sheikh to practice but if someone is helpless then NO NEED FOR SHEIKH AT ALL. OPEN THE QURAN AND START MEMORIZING IT and then find someone to whom you can recite to justify your memorization. that's it.

Kamal Ahmed the sheikh is correct the sheikh wil not only help you memorize but also will help with tajweed and makharij huruf that why he said someone qualified.

I am sorry. You did not get my point. He said ONE CAN NEVER MEMORIZE the Quran ALONE. So, I strongly disagreed to that statement. And He was not talking about the Tajweed etc. And again, anyone can learn tajweed online via skype or other means. No need exact face to face sitting. But the way, he was saying ALONE is NOT POSSIBLE is COMPLETE WRONG AND BAD THING. It will discourage people to try memorize as much as they can on their free time if they are very busy with their jobs and family etc. By the way, I am a Qari myself. I did study in Islamic school 10 years and then I moved to college. So, Tajweed is not a problem for me. My problem is that I have job now and I am so busy that I do not have time to go to a sheikh timely and besides, it is hard to find a sheikh who will teach me because they only think only young boy can be Hafiz, not an adult like me. So, I have started memorizing Quran for the sake of Allah and Allah said several times in the Quran (And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?) (many times in Sura Al Qamar ). So, Should I believe Allah or the statement of this sheikh? I really feel very upset for this sheikh. How dare he said it IS IMPOSSIBLE to memorize Quran when I myself have completed nearly 6 juzs with the help and mercy of Allah? So, It is very bad to discourage people from trying to memorize Quran alone if they can not go to sheikh.
