This continues off from a bad version of the ending of the original Princess Connect. The story is actually a bit darker and more complex than the anime makes it out to be. The main character protected on of his party members from a fatal attack from the last boss and that’s how he ended up like this. His previous party isn’t in the anime but they are important to the story, and they are in the game so no they aren’t dead. If you look up the opening sequence to the game, you will see 6 girls with him not just the 3 from the anime.

Princess Connect Re:dive is the sequal to Princess Connect set right after the events of the first game's canon ending. Princess Connect Re:dive expects you to know this information if you choose to follow the actual Main Storyline from the original source being the Mobile game since it is entirely covered in the first game called Princess Connect.

@@orrthehunter Morely that kind of plotline from the first game totally gone since Kaiser/Mana totally reset everything and make a new one inwhich everyone memory got wipe out thus why its Re:Dive (Here i speculate its toward Yui fault). That is also why Minerva is currently missing too

@@PlyAkira Not all memories are wiped as every single girl that Yuuki got into his harem from the first game all still have their memories of him from the time in Princess Connect due to their strong feelings for him. It is why Princess Connect Re:dive can be confusing since Yuuki will encounter every single girl he has in his harem from the first game and they all remember him while he does not remember them but they will still mention once in a while events of previous game. Even Yui herself eventually remembers Yuuki and starts to live with him again with Rei and Hiyori as well. Then there is Muimi as she plays a huge importance in the story since she is the only one who kept all her memories from before the memory wipe which is why she is constantly being hunted down since the very beginning of Season 1 Main Storyline. Then there is Mana Senri and Akira as both of them still have their memories which is why previous events from the first game are important because they both still seek to complete their original objective with Akira seeking to free everyone from the game using Yuuki's powers while Mana Senri still seeks to rule the world. As for Season 2 Main Storyline, that is a rather different matter to talk about since no one knows what is going on yet since not enough of the storyline is released in the game.
